My Best Mushroom Medium Recipe
    #25984282 -

Swizzers Master Medium Recipe

I've put allot of work & research into this. This enriched recipe hits every nutritional desire for the growth of mushrooms. The only difference for wood lovers is to add some sawdust.

This recipe is only for the growing medium (Fruiting Box). As it's specially designed for laying down & not made for cakes.

Expect Healthy Aggressive Growth, Satisfying Yields & Consistent Potency.

Non Woodlovers Recipe

Enriched Compost - (Branched Nutrient Base) - 50%
Corn Starch - (Starch Cellulose Source) - 10%
Rye Flour - (Branched Grain Nutrients) - 10%
Chicken Manure Pellets - (Great Nitrogen Source) - 20%
Perlite - (Moisture Regulation) - 10% - (Optional to add perlite to the medium I find it helps)

Add some granulated sugar to the water you'll be using to bind everything together.

Woodlovers Recipe

Less compost for this one more Wood, Moisture & Cellulose.

Enriched Compost - (Branched Nutrient Base) - 20%
Sawdust - 30%
Corn Starch - (Starch Cellulose Source) - 10%
Rye Flour - (Branched Grain Nutrients) - 10%
Chicken Manure Pellets - (Great Nitrogen Source) - 20%
Perlite - (Moisture Regulation) - 10% - (Optional to add perlite to the medium I find it helps)

Add some granulated sugar to the water you'll be using to bind everything together.

When you want to run another flush stab the medium all over & add more water. After that just keep moist with still water. That's about it. You're welcome.

Perlite in a sub?

Yes you don't want the entire bed to cake as you would want aeration & moisture regulation. Because if you were to go for a flush that perlite you decided not to add is not going to help you soak that moisture up further down if it all cakes up.

Do more research on agar. Find agressive growth in a petri dish, then just use coir and verm. To each his own though. If you can get same results with leas effort why not?

Who has ever had this issue? We all get multiple flushes after re-hydrating all the time.

In all honesty, the perlite could be optional I just use it to help keep more of the medium hydrated instead of me not being able to get to dry parts if the entire thing cakes. Just break up the medium more before rehydrating when going for another flush I suppose.

Yeh sugar water is fine only at the step for bringing everything together before laying it down. After would strictly be still water.

Try it out sometime bro. With or without perlite as long as you follow what I just said. Share results

Man. The substrate doesn't provide nutrients, the grain does, the substrate retains water. Perlite is wrong, use vermiculite. Cubes don't need nitrogen, they aren't plants. All of your extra "nutrition" is just going to invite guests to dinner, like Baccilus, Penicillum and Trichoderma. KISS

And for God's sake don't stab your poor mycellium all over the place and poor sugar water on it. Are you trying to help people ruin their crops?

Have you used sugar water to help bring things together before?

There is no grain to this recipe. Only flour of grain. Everything else comes from Base & Enrichment. Ok I'll change the need to add more sugar water for a further flush. Cubes do consume Nitrogen bro.

I didn't mean breaking the mycelium up in a violent way other than creating space for the moisture to be absorbed jeez. It would propagate the moisture absorption better than just weeting the surface or dunking it anyway.

This

and do you atleast have images proving this worked for you. Seems like way too much nutrition to get any shrooms before molds take over.

I have four tubs full of fungi right now that says you're wrong. Coir and Vermiculite substrate, hell, they fruit on 100% coir fine. Cubes eat grains. They are primary decomposers, you are confusing them with buttons that actually eat shit or pink oysters that eat nearly anything. Your recipe will only produce tubs full of Trichoderma

Can you post some photos or get more detailed about the recipe? Is it a 1:1 ratio to spawn?

Does it matter what order its mixed up in? Sugar water sounds like it would make the mushrooms taste better too...?

Thanks bro,

Are you still trying to argue Cubensis Mushrooms don't consume nitrogen from manure pellets at all?

I will post some pictures soon. I'll even make a video for the ratios etc.

I don't think they would alter the taste. The sugar water is more of a way to get glucose mixed in with the medium. Just like starch is a good way to push the cellulose levels up. I'm still curious to try microcrystalline cellulose in the future to see the difference from starch.

But why? What kind of BE are you getting? Are you getting more potency, and if so how do you quantify it? Why do any of this shit that adds more risk than just some clean spawn and coir that gets 200% BE? What real world benefit are you getting in your final product?

Your idea sounds good on paper, but I've been growing 17 years and I've tried supplements. None actually had any benefit. I was just buying and measuring out more shit that didn't do anything real in the end.

Our goal here is to have as much yield as possible with the best potency in a cost and time efficient manner.

cubes grow like weeds you do not need to give them extra anything.

adding additives to cubes is like ... having a slice of cake for dessert when dinner was the entire cake.

Well I can confidently admit you've been growing them longer than me. No BE tests done yet.

But noticeable consistent cellular structure improvements, potency, growth & final yield quality.

You know I never said this was for cubes. If you guys have a standard around here that's great man I'm just sharing. Doesn't mean to say this would still work for cubes because it absolutely would.

Probably.  Post it in the artistic thread, we don't need new growers looking for info getting over excessive and bringing in more chances of failure.  Everyone has their own style and that's fine, but you'll catch flak if you post it like its the be-all, end-all solution.

Here's how you should have done this thread to avoid getting flamed:

First, get a bunch of agar going with the same isolate. Next get it all on grain...enough to spawn 20 tubs. Then you'll need to spawn 10 of them to your mix, and 10 to straight coir using the techniques we accept as the norm. Be sure all spawn ratios are the same.

Grow them out and take detailed notes, compare final average dry weight of your tubs.

If your mix produces more weight on average than the standard coir substrate, then you have something and no-one can say is a waste of time and resources.

It's pretty common that new growers brainstorm up these wild ideas that will radically change how we grow mushrooms forever...but they never post any evidence.

That's completely different than OPs plans.

His goal are maximizing obviously because he's trying to make a super powered mix. What he doesn't realize is the food matters so little compared to the skill and growing conditions. You can't superfood your way out of not knowing shit about growing.
OP is so clueless he thinks the recipe has anything to do with potency lol.
People that do this always seem to morph their reasoning into something like what you're saying about being creative etc.. but it's clear they're trying to boast a way to grow faster and stronger which means ambitions not just having fun trying stuff being creative. Creativity and just happy with whatever i get... that's the opposite of the reasons for making "super powered grows"

new guy walks into a strongman gym. dudes in this place regularly pulling 700 lbs off the floor. new guy comes in explaining how they could be doing it better. if the new guy can pull 800 off the floor, people might have a reason to listen. if the new guy can only pull 600 off the floor he'll either be ignored, have chalk thrown in his face, or be thrown out, depending on how he was acting.

i can only pull 400 off the floor. it doesn't matter which way i choose, if i'm still making progress. i choose the simpler way.

I have an actual question about your recipe.

You say it's meant as a bulk sub recipe but it has lots of ingredients that
require sterilizing vs. pasteurizing. You intend for this to be done
like muda bottles or in a tub or what?

Pro tip, when posting threads like this, it's best to have a completed grow
to post along side that you did using your tek. Had you posted some full
canopies people may not have dissed you so hard. Next time just wait til
you have pics becore making the thread to back it all up.

U got dissed so had bc the mush cult forum is a forum on grown actives mushies only. Mostly cubes... Ur recipe might work ok for other mushies  but most of us grow lotsa cubes here. And like everyone else said why make it more complicated when u can get great results with just grains coir and water. U haven't answered that part yet. For me even if u did post canopy picks with ur recipe it still wouldn't make me change anything bc I get canopies with only one ingredient instead of 10.

What you're saying is totally circumstantial. It could go either way. Every week new growers without any successes make over complicated misting and fanning tubs with timers, humidifiers and all that jazz; thinking it will make growing easier. Those get shit on every time.

Now if you rigged up a tub based on current practices but you tried it in a different way somehow (like Tiger's Hybrid SGFC/Mono or Mateah's HC) and you've shown you know a thing or two about growing; that's a whole different ball game and people will be more inclined to consider what you're doing seriously.

This forum would be way more boring than it is if people only posted

Unmodded tubs were around way before you wrote a tek about it.

putting weights on your pc is something people were doing 10yrs go.

Fruiting at spawning was the norm 15 years ago as I understand it.
The fact you even brought up Violet just shows your intellectual dishonesty

The last forum you'd expect a bunch of ego's tbh lol. Just because I don't have a grow log beforehand & 10 thousand posts don't mean I can't post my master medium recipe in cultivation. See I mean if you're not sterilizing your tools & surfaces by default then you're not growing mushrooms right anyway. I totally get it you guys have your basic mediums down for basic results it's inconsistently fine I get it. This is barely 5 ingredients nevermind 20 let's not get excited.

I dno why people are saying try agar work on the same recipe when I specified this is strictly for the fruit box medium. I do all more spawn from repeated agar to get a nice spawn cut.

You know cannabis went through that grass phase through the 70's to 90's until people started playing with the medium. Obviously, you know the base mediums to use & conditions for the environment you're mostly all professionals right. Maybe you should get a little spicy & try some inexpensive new additions to your medium that could potentially return some consistent gourmet mushrooms & potentially add tot he evolution of the mushroom cultivations archives.

Yeh nate like I've said a few times now. I'll make comparison grow log soon.

I agree dude I honestly do. A buddy I gave some PE to last week told me that
they basically cured his social anxiety and depression caused by previous trauma.
I also had a small business in tejas selling gourmets as well as extracts
to small businesses and private buyers. I owe all I know to this community.

I'm just sayin, this is a forum for people to practice and learn about a hobby.
If you make it so people are scared to post what they are doing for fear
of being flamed by the peanut gallery, then how is this a fun hobby and welcoming community?
When noobs do post those crazy contraptions the  common reaction
I see on here is to call it stupid and them a dunce. Happens all the time.

OP should have posted pics to go along with the recipe, definitely agree there.
I'm actually interested in seeing how they use that recipe cause it
is way over the top and needs to be sterilized so ya.

I do try to cut down a lot on the people calling names here. But that also doesn't make you popular haha.

People think I have my "puppets" but I've banned people like mushboy a couple times or more.

I mean he has a point there. you're like a swarm of omg check this guy tryna pull his cock out in cultivation. Your just not lucky I'm weak like dat. I'll just balance out the counter argument in the comments & adjust the OP accordingly while letting you moan so I can learn what I can.

It's not even about having a complete grow log on this medium or people's ego's. Like I was saying to pedro and others have already said to you, having some kind of record and reputation that you have grows under your belt would help this be believable. But in your 14 posts there's no record of your general abilities, so it's kinda hard to just believe that this will work or work better; when from our perspective you're unknown and the conventional wisdom at this time is that's too much nutrition for bulk in open air.

Still good luck with it and I'll check out your log when you get it goin.

It really doesn't matter you troll. It's just an expected fundamental part of mushroom cultivation. Clean Surfaces, Clean Tools etc.

Sorry for you guys not knowing who I was beforehand enough to respect my master recipe thread.

Ok I'll change the need to add more sugar water for a further flush.

:callingbullshit:

your original post actually described pouring sugar water onto a sub after first flush?

this is such a master recipe derived from your extensive research on the matter, then why would you change your master recipe when someone calls you on it?

best wishes.

That's awesome and I'm not questioning your ability to be helpful. Your threads rock dude. You have a literal metric fick ton of information neatly compiled and easily accessible. Im not being sarcastic, youve provided a great service to clandestine mycology operations world wide, your contribution is enormous. I'm asking what the new grower success rate is on this particular board.

Idk I haven't made any attempt at cataloging every noobs post besides it would be biased to success as people who don't succeed probably have a lower percentage of wanting to share their grow in a post.

All i know is that if you have any tenacity and drive your first post will be successful. And then there's some people who try ten times and fail ten times. Because they want to make their own modified directions or say they do every step but actually don't like not venting their pressure cooker etc...

Probably depends on the parameters you want to put. There's always a decent number of people in getting started that are having trouble with a given tek, but you find often that they improvised some how or missed a key detail. Then there's people like that post that just follow directions to a T and have minimal failures. And of course other variables like bad syringe vendor, pre-made materials, etc.

I can attest to having very little troubles just following the current pf-tek without having an acct to ask any questions. Didn't join till my retarded ass just could not get printing right.
