How do you like to stay cool in the desert? What sort of covering things do u use to keep your tent/camp cool and shaded?
What sorts of provisions do you take to survive the heat and dry conditions?

I wouldn't know a dang thing about it, but it's interesting.
So do you find wood out there for a camp fire?

Theres some places with wood and shrubs, but its pretty scarce typically. The good news is its real dry and ready to burn!
Some deserts get real cold at night so finding firewood definitely becomes in issue.

Most places in the desert will have fire restrictions in the summer time, aka don't start a fire. Desert brush fires can get to 1,000 acres in a day. In the night time expecct it to be 30 - 50 degrees colder in the night time than the day time. With elevation that can be closer to 50 - 70 degrees. Basically find a shady spot. Carry at least 1.5 gallons of water with you at all times. Light a fire if you need, but keep it small and tend to it to keep it lit. Don't try to have it lit all night for warmth. You should be fine. 30 - 50 degrees colder means it will be 85F at night instead of 120F. Which should be managable.
But honestly, you're in the desert. Why do you need a tent? I rarely use a tent while desert camping. It's just kinda a hassle to carry with you and set up. It's not going to rain and if it does, you'll most likely be fine or even enjoy it. A tarp should be good enough, maybe make a taco if you need too. But yea, its the desert, so you will probably be uncomfortably hot at some point. But the good thing is the low humidity means your sweat evaporates quickly. So you won't be fucking nasty. You'll be gross, but you won't be fucking nasty.
If you want to stay cooler, than around 4 or 5 pm get to some elevation. Find a shaded spot with a rock face to go up against. This will keep the wind from spreading a fire should you decide to start one. I wouldn't recommend it, but I do. But I wouldn't consider myself reckless in the desert. The desert can be the most safe place for out door activities, as well as the most dangerous.

Depends where it's at. I go to high elevation desert near rocky mountains so it can be freezing cold at night and mild or hot during the day. I bring my typical backpack gear and if i backpack i will sometimes set water checkpoints in advance. Like go up a weekend or 2 before and store quarts or gallons of water where accessible by vehical, so i dont have to carry gallons of water on my multiday hike
4 wheel drive to get out is probably most important in my area. Ive been caught in flash flooding and the entire desert turns to nasty, sticky mud. Makes travel difficult
