Shpongle on shrooms * 3

I know many people who enjoy tripping enjoy Shpongle. Simon Posford and Raja Ram’s music is beautiful and complex, so intricately layered it can be enjoyed in any state of mind, but for me it is almost too intense on large enough doses of psilocybin. Which is unfortunate because I feel like the 2 are meant for each other.

Not sure if it is my opportune timing of peak shroom trip to put on Divine Moments of Truth, or if there is something about Shpongle that makes me boarderline black out. But last 2 times I had similar experiences where I would lose myself to the music, come to in utter confusion, navigate the mindfuck I was experiencing while struggling to remain calm, turn off the Shpongle for something more relaxing/not so weird. Eventually I would emerge out of the mindfuckery (not entirely unscathed) and enjoy the indescribably beautiful geometry that is the nature of our universe.

It feels like I either need to take a larger dose (more than an 1/8) in order to fully submit to the ego loss, or a smaller one (half 1/8) where I can still hold onto my shit mentally with little issue. Its just the last 2 times I put on Shpongle during my trip it led to real shaky waters, not that I haven’t had to deal with the same issue in other instances, just wish I could’ve fully embraced the weirdness for longer instead of having my ego cling to dying life. However, it feels like I have to navigate the rough waters to reap the full benefit of my experience at the end of the day.

Let me know if others have felt this way, or if I just am doing it wrong. So jealous of anyone who saw the Red Rocks performance this past weekend! Seeing the live band is something I regret not doing!

Uhm, no, Shpongle and shrooming are totally meant for each other IMHO. 

But the experience of not being able to handle it can't be that uncommon since it's easy to do but I think your intuition is right about the cause. 

Letting go is letting it in, not letting go is keeping it out...

It’s like their music creates such a strong reaction with the psilocybin that my mind becomes completely overwhelmed. As if I’m living the music until I realize I have no clue what was going on for the past however many minutes/hours/days it could’ve been. Utter confusion takes over thoughts and visuals. Beautifully terrifying.

Guess I’ll have to work on my dose/timing, ability to submit to the mushroom’s will, or pick some different tripping music.

Dude I got shpongled earlier today! Heres what I did: dose up, get super comfortable and wait. Once you start feeling it, not like o I think I'm feeling it, no once you're really feeling it, start a shpongle(I "watched" red rocks 2015 today) and just let your mind go on the journey. Dont skip around, dont pick your favorite song, just start a album or show at the beginning and listen to the whole thing in its entirety. I love you guys. Good luck. Nothing is something worth doing ✌

I was very lucky to be able to have seen Shpongoe at Red Rocks. Truly a remarkable experience I will never forget.

I totall get the "too wild" aspect of Shpongle. It can be overwhelming if you are tripping hard. If u are familiar with Shpongle's music, theres many tracks that have a more downtempo "chill" feel to it. One example is Around the World in a Tea Daze. Another is Dorest Perception is more user-friendly. I Am You is on the more chill side. The last 3 tracks of Nothing Lasts....But Nothing is Lost is more calmer/less crazy. The short track Flute Fruit is gentle. Of Course ....And the Day Turned to Night is a nice gentle loooong music voyage.

Also, may i suggest Bluetech's Prima Materia? Its Psy-Dub and its similar to Shpongle's music.

Well, I always get bad vibes from Shpongle. I like to listen to psytrance when I take psychedelics. The ride is insane, just try it.

Getting comfortable and going through an entire album definitely could be key. I was walking around a forest and had a few of their songs on a playlist I made.

I went through DMT, Dorset Perception, when shall I be free, mentalism, and nothing is something worth doing before I snapped out of my Shpongle induced trance. Even some of the chill stuff is pretty intense in a certain mindset, it’s just hard to reintegrate after going through such a musical experience for me personally. I do appreciate the suggestions though, I enjoy Bluetech so I’ll check that out!

You talking more along the lines of Infected Mushroom? I’d appreciate any specific psytrance suggestions you have.

I love me some Progressive and Psy-Trance as well. But no Dark Psy-Trance! One time i listened to creepy, dark psy-trance during a really intense dealer cube trip and it sent me to paranoid-ville. I was getting super creeped out by the music. Literelly the worst thing to play at the time.

The music is showing you an alternative mind space perhaps.  If you were completely saturated in the mass delusions and listened to "I Am You" and it suddenly became obviously irrefutably true what they were saying it might be hard to take.  Not saying that's the case, but they're definitely not coming from where the sheeples live... :yinyang2:

Definitely not infected mushroom. I posted one mix already but I'll give you another one. Turn off the light and put this on full volume and you'll have one crazy experience :vibin:

PrimalSoup, I try to mentally prepare myself for anything and take some pre-trip notes but some things you just can’t prepare for. I still have work to do on accepting certain things about myself which certainly plays into how shrooms affect me. Also, a change in set and setting could do me good, but I don’t have a ton of experience so still trying to find the best place. Gong is fun music for sure!

grati, I’m sure if I listened to that in the dark Shroomin I would shit myself.

Well everyone is different but psytrance does it for me. It's all I listen to these days. I have uv neons, colored rotating bulbs and everything I need for a rave atmosphere :yesnod: All my trips were positive with psytrance

I feel yah brotha. Everyone has their own cup of tea. I think my most positive happy trips are listening to some jam or bluegrass, but sometimes I want to get weird hence the Shpongle.

That's what it's all about man, find what work for you(shout out terence) and then help others find what works for them. We are all one but we all have our own niches. On thing I was told in my trip yesterday was we are all consciousness trying to experience as much as possible so no matter what you do or how you get there(as long as you arent harming others) is exactly what you are supposed to do. Just do everything with love and you cant go wrong.

I love Shpongle, but I get what you are saying. Sometimes you can't predict why some otherwise enjoyable music creates a dysphoric mood while tripping.

Sometimes I go for Dark Side of the Moon, other times, music like Solar Fields. You may even enjoy classical!  On YouTube, go to templesounds channel for some Tibetan singing bowl sounds. He has a 70 minute 7 chakra video that is exceedingly beautiful and goes well with shrooms. I'll try and link it when I'm on my desk top. Searching YouTube will find it easily.  Love to listen to it when I can't sleep.

Put on an album of Shpongle once while tripping and I don't konw where the time went. Suddenly the whole album had been played through. I felt a bit cheated tbh :P Can't remember a time zap like that any other time on mushrooms.

Dude I swear I teleported back to the show at red rocks, then at the end shpongle teleported us(any other trippers there) all back to our times and places with a mission to spread the love and save the planet. Dude if someone was telling me this I wouldn't believe them but I swear that's what happened 🤣😂

I haven't really listened to infected mushroom yet. Just the name gives me bad vibes haha. I know a bunch of people who love them tho. I'll have to give it a try.

First of all, I love Shpongle. They try to recreate psychedelic states in music. Invariably they smash it.

The first time I listened to My Head Feels Like Frizbee, I was transported across the Rio carnival, like I was riding the magic carpet, to all these world rhythms and beats,, constantly changing so you never get bored.

On 5g heroic doses, I will ofteen put Shpongle on, after trying the silent darkness, to ground me and bring the trip to less scary places. A couple of tracks into Tales of the Inexpressible I’m generally feeling ok.

However on my more regular 3.8g Psilocybe cubensis trips, they can be really intense. Strange shit happens when I listen to them with eyes closed. I can sense Simon Posford’s presence, and it’s as if I’m helping him compose the music. I know the next note, instrument etc.

I often visualise massive indoor open spaces, like I’m in. A huge cavern, or in. A huge cathedral. It’s stunning. And any track which mentions shponglelnd really brings the magic in the trip. All the elves / goblins I see in the corner of rooms, sometimes multitudes of them, always coming towards me, is always a blessing, like I’m part of their tribe.

On quite a few occasions, where the trip has been very ecstasy / mdma -like, Star Shpongled Banner is just awesome 👊🏻

If you listen to A new Way to Say “Hooray” during the peak, it is one of the most chilled feelings I ever get. Like I’m floating across n underground lake surrounded by candles past the stalactites and stalagmites. Bliss.

I would say though, Codex VI...I have listened to it three times. Once all the way through; was a really chilled groove feel to the night. The other two times had to switch it of t the same place. Can’t recall the song, but at both times I t just felt too deep nd too sinister!

Shpongle rules.  Entheogenic is excellent, too.

When I need quiet or gently music it's Carbon Based Lifeforms or Aara I turn to.
