Shiney mycelium??? Couple more pics

Hello, my mycelium has gotten shiny. It looks wet but it's just very shiney, I left the top off for awhile to let it get air. What's going on??? Please advise me, thank you in advance.

No, i haven't been misting but they have been pretty humid. Is there anything I can do? Will it hurt anything?

I've waited on mine before and still pinned. Doesn't look servere to me I would just check on it once a day and mist if needed. I matted one on purpose just took longer and sometimes flipping the sub over worked out for me. I would wait until you get more replies and leave it alone for now

Thank you blue, I'll wait it out. Should I put the top back on? Or let it get all the FAE it can get? Hopefully some more people chime in but I'm taking advice from the person trying to help me. Thank you again.

Does the shiny one soak up beads of water when you mist?
The tub with puffy white doesnt look so good.. the other one looks good tho.  :goodluck:

I didn't try misting this morning, I was afraid that would make it worse. I will try this evening after work though. If it does, am I good? And if it doesn't??? Thank you btw

Doesnt really mean anything if it does.

Ive had straight coir boxes with no casing/top layer that soaked shit up right away, it was hard to keep the surface conditions perfect without hovering over them 24/7.
They still produced fruits but it was mostly side/bottom pins. Dose this shiny one have a top layer?

No problem mang thats what we are here for. :toast:

yeah thats probably why it looks a little dry.. you can tell because the sub is shrinking away from the edges of the box.

All my boxes get a top layer at spawn, it helps keep surface conditions where they need to be and helps prevent side/ bottom pins.

How old are these boxeS?

It was either 4/22 or 4/25, does the pseudo casing cause it to pin later?? Or is about the same? But worth it

I just add a top layer of coir and verm at spawn, takes a few extra days to fully colonize but its worth it. Doesn't need any maintenance/ misting till after the first flush.

You should see pins any day now if they are going to produce fruits.

I hope so, I got a couple that a put a top layer on, I did two last night and put a layer on one. I might put a layer on the other tonight. Here's one I put a layer on, it's starting to have a few pins. When they start pinning do you do anything different??? More fae, misting ????

They are pretty with a top layer

Some people crack the lid for fae, some keep them snapped shut. Either one will work fine long as your lids aren't sealed air tight.
If you have a few boxes play around with them and find out what works best for you.

Evaporation of surface moisture is a pinning trigger so its ok to let it dry out a little bit in-between misting.

I suggest picking a tek and sticking to it until you have a few grows under your belt.
Mushboys shoe box thread is a good place to start. 100's of pages of good info in there.

also check out proper surface moisture / fae as well.

I might need to get a fan, I have several shoeboxes and one mono and one unmodded and I haven't had to must any of them. They all stay pretty moist, I feel. I had to dab little pools from the edges of my mono the other day. I really want/need this to work. It makes me worry. At least my pseudo cased shoeboxes are pinning though, hoping to see more when I get home.

Depending where your storing them you don't need a fan. Cracked lid should do enough fae. If you do put a fan make sure it's aimed at the wall on low and away from the tubs. That shit will get dry real fast. I only had to use a fan if it was in a closet with stagnant air

Fans usually do more damage then good. Just crack the lid for a few hours if it looks too wet.

the room I have them in has a blocked off vent and stays around 78 give or take a couple. theres no air flow. sadly I didn't think about that till it started getting hot outside and I was likw WTF!!!!!!!!! now I feel like I fucked myself and ruined a lot of hard work
