anything other than a pure white color is no good. I've seen off white mycelium from equadorians but only in the beginning it later turns pure white. The green spot in the jar means it's too late, however if the jar has alread been completely colonized by the myclelium you do have a chance of carefully carving out the contaminated green spot with a sterilized blade and then immediately casing. The casing must also be sterilized. If your jar is only partially colonized by the mycelium then your jar is pretty screwed. Birthing the jar partially colonized would mean subjecting all the uncolonized substrate to all sorts of contams floating around in the air, and you would end up losing the jar anyway. That is of course, unless you try and do it under a hood with a HEPA air filter. But of course if you had one of those you probably wouldn't have gotten the contam in the first place. ------------------ Trying to rationalize with an irrational person, is in itself irrational!

If he seeks out a vet, the vet would have to make a police report about the chemicals in his blood.L

Yeah, you wouldn't want your cat bringing the police by your house would you? Tell your cat that if he decides to try to save the cake, he should cut it open to make sure the green spot doesn't go any deeper than the surface. Sometimes the outside of the cake is the last place for the contamination to make itself seen. Of course your cat would have to case the cake after that. If shrooms come up, the should be safe to eat. Notice the operative word is should. You pays your money you takes your chances. ------------------ -snarf

Maybe the green spot is a green coloured vermiculite?
