This is Exactly what i was worried about... like if i had unmodified plastic lids i wouldnt be worried but this is polyfill with 1/4 holes....

What method do you use to hydrate?

Mine are on the drier less bacterial side tbh just by looking at them and listening to a loose grain tink around when i tilt the jar slightly

I use regular canning lids that I punch a hole in and stuff with polyfill, and they just don’t dry out.  But I hear about this stuff.  I’d think you could just barely boil them again and dry them off, not sure though.  They might get all shitty once hydrated and then dried.  Think it would still be worth a try.  So I had a liquid culture that must have died, two weeks after inoculating 7 jars and nothing, so I just put them in the pc and did another round and they came out fine, seems like they were a little darker after that, but they grew mushrooms.
And I use Bods easy af oat tek

sometimes i feel like we go too far with all our knowledge when this is the only sentence that matters to some degree lol.

I think i will inspect one jar to see first the hydration level and continue based on that assessment.

yeah... now im wondering if i can re pc these brf cakes too, seeing as its been 20 days with absolutely no growth.

I just cannot bring myself to dump 19 half pints that should otherwise be fine but i know they like to dry out too ...

either way i suppose wasting brf and verm isnt as bad as wasting spore syringes so

i actually just opened one of the jars i know wasnt gonna germinate and the rye does feel really dry .. idk how to gauge how wet it should be but it feels too dry . gonna try and cook it again
