I've found that using a very light grip and slow twist on stubborn rings works very often. I figure older rings are slightly warped and when you squeeze hard and turn, the imperfection just kind of gets "caught" and can't turn freely. But if you use a light grip and go in a circle trying new angles every 1/8" or so, you'll catch it and open it right up.

AA25 I picked up for $150. Owner used it to sterilize tattoo stuff. They'd had it for 7 years I think, but only used it a few times per year. Don't think they bought it new, but what a deal. I had them send pictures verifying it hit above 15PSI and they did.
Going to read the manual later tonight and figure out how to use it. I have a bunch of threads saved as well as I know I need to modify something in there to fit maximum capacity. First time with stopcock as well. Doesn't have a stand, but I heard folks use patio bricks instead so I'll look into that tonight, too.
If anybody has some things I should double check on the unit before running it, especially WRT to safety, I'm all ears. Going to replace over-pressure plugs on all my units soon and keep the currents as back-ups.
About 6 months ago I also got a brand new, in box, never used AA921 for $120. The only issue was the owner was a heavy smoker so the box was stained yellow and the unit stank horribly. But a quick deep scrub got the smell off the unit and it works great.

Finally got me a mini-fridge without a fucking freezer! 4.4 cubic foot Danby. This model is usually like $180-$220 new, but scored this for $80. Going to put in some older dishes soon and keep testing the temperature. So far the coldest setting is reading 45F and I'd like it a bit colder. I've found many posts on home brewer's boards dealing with this issue, as well as cold/warm spots that are common in fridges, i.e., door is warmer, but top and back area is colder. Many of them wired up small CPU fans to keep the air circulating and evenly cold. I might have to try that!

That is a great deal! I ordered parts (pressure release and gauge) for mine a couple of times now, had it for many years and I prefer to be on the safe side too. The pressure relief (which I haven’t changed yet) is now a weighted style instead of the petcock. That’s holding me back 😝 I’m sure it’s better or they wouldn’t change it but I’m just resistant. I’m not sure if it’s the same on the 25x. I didn’t know you weren’t supposed to fill them to max.... new to me.

I need to move out to the fucking country.
Like seriously, what kind of jobs could I do out on the country that would make a living wage? I've got some cooking skills and mycology skill... and then a bunch of desk work and HR bullshit experience.
This was inspired by ya'lls scores and having room to even have a mulcher.

all the parts are replaceable on those units. just make sure not to go over 20psi too often or you'll fry your wires. just put new leads and a thermostat in my AA75x

Thanks a lot for the 20PSI tip. 20 is the highest I've went with my PC's and usually try and go between 17-18 max with jars and 15 only with bags. The over pressure plug is the only thing I thought off hand I should replace since I think it's recommended to do so ever year or so? Going to get red ones for my 921's, too.
Do you have any parts in mind I should double check before running to see if replacing is needed?

I scooped this yesterday for $200 on CL. Cabelas 160 liter dehydrator with 22 tray capacity, although they only had 11. They retail for $450. They bought this about 7 years ago, used it once, and it sat inside since. It's essentially brand new. Now I just need to fill it.
