Anyone use these services? How were the drivers? Was it sketchy?

Only a few times in Towson and Denver.

Seemed like a lot of immigrants. Most I had didn’t talk to ya like a real taxi.

They are pretty chill LC.
I use them alot when i travel to Florida.
Im Not used to being a passenger but it was a nice change.:rofl:

Some drivers are cooler than others.
Whatever you do.
DO NOT puke in the car.
And Always make sure your getting in the right car.

The app gives you all the information about your drivers.

Depends on the driver.
Some let you choose the music some choose it for you.
Some don't talk or play music.
Some are really cool some suck.

Not sketchy in general. Usually people trying to make a buck.

I've had some drivers that were safety risks either due to being geriatric with vision or memory problems or being young and too hot-headed on wet roads.

I've also had some rude drivers set for pick up, but if they are that bad I won't get in the car.

I have used it a few times, but always from another person's account.

Never really had any problems. Just regular people with a car. I keep reading articles about drivers either faking puke or using one picture on multiple people during the night, so that's a bit sketchy. Also there have been a few kidnappings and murders, and at least one dude drove around picking up rides and just casually doing drive-bys whenever not driving someone. He got busted by the end of the day though. I guess you get bad eggs everywhere though, some old time-y cabbies probably did that too.

It's an unregulated taxi service (with a watered down background check).  Big problem is that your driver will be constantly distracted.  Also make sure that you actually read the ToS.  There is a lot of stuff in there that people genuinely do not believe, even when you show it to them.

I've used Uber all over the world and Lyft in America. Dozens upon dozens upon dozens of journeys.

Not only do I not have one bad thing to say about it, in terms of cost, speed, efficiency and availability, but 90% of the time I have the most amazing conversations/meet amazing people in the drivers!!!

I would definitely consider doing it myself if I didn't have more employable/profitable skills. Right up my street.

A single woman is always at a slight risk getting in a car with an unknown man driving. There's tons of incidences of sexual assaults by cab drivers too.

Sounds like you've been paying too much attention to the news. That shit aint good for ya; gives you a twisted view of the world.

Cab drivers go through a way stricter background check.  Uber and Lyft very much intentionally make use of background check services that are less likely to turn up a criminal record (i.e. that's their rationalization for using background checks that aren't really background checks).  I've been through Livescan and the watered down stuff that Uber and Lyft use.  The watered down stuff might as well not even be a background check.  Cab drivers are under way more scrutiny than anybody driving for Uber and Lyft too (and not just on account of the background checks).  For example, the company that they drive for actually holds them responsible for the things that they do (to reiterate, read the ToS).  That's an example too.  If most people (excepting sketchy weirdos) weren't afraid of hitchhikers then you'd honestly be better off hitchhiking.

Taxis are some of the worst rides I've ever had. Uber/lyft some of the best.

A lot of people running into problems get in the wrong car. If you're too fucked up to read a license plate :shrug: oops.

I haven't had any sketchy drivers that I thought were murderers or something but I've had some foreign lyft drivers that did some crazy shit, like turning from the wrong lane and whatnot.  I've not had much experience with actual taxis with which to contrast.
