Mycelium creep. Response to mold contamination? New pics
    #25943923 - 04/19/19 03:01 PM (5 years, 8 months ago)

I have a partially colonized monotub that appears healthy but in places, has mycelium growing up the side out of the bulk substrate. They too look healthy. Am I seeing a reaction to the substrate or is this normal? I spent two weeks in the dark.
The substrate is 2 part manure (Bison), 1 part coco coir, 1 part Vermiculite and 5% by volume gypsum. I have 5 layers with two colonized grain sandwiched with 3 layers of substrate. I didn’t put a cap on it (note photo).

Wow! That looks amazing. I think I would put a pseudo casing on it. But I am still fairly new.

Mycelium needs light throughout alll stages, I don’t know if that’s what’s causing it but it not good to leave them in the dark. Your tray should be fine though.

Looks like I have contamination. Is the mycelium creep a response to the threat? Can I save the monotub at this point?

New photos: note green spot and a greenish cast of growth in areas.

Yeah, put it outside, you'll probably get some fruits. 1st pic you can see primordia formation.

3rd pic has trichoderma.

Thanks for the advice, but “put it outside” is a broad palette . Open the dome? Mist it, let it dry, put a pseudo cap on? 💁‍♂️

Spawn it to some cow poo outside. Don't open that inside for any reason. Get it out of your home now.

What the hell? It's not that horrible to open. Trich is all over you damn home/air anyways if it's showing up in your tubs. I wouldn't recommend tossing your trich into a different tub, but if it's in this tub it's already all over.

You have some serious fear of things that you really shouldn't have so much fear over. Many plant growers consider trich to be a good thing for their soils and plants.

And it doesn't need cow poo, it doesn't need any kind of shit. You can take the cake and toss it on top of a compost pile and it'll grow just as well as sticking it in some dirt in the yard. It doesn't need anything specific. You can just fruit the whole thing outside rather than inside so that you don't put a ton of unnecessary spores in your home. That's all. Don't need to manage it much differently than indoors. Many people just take their cakes and dump them mixed in with some soil in a specific patch in their backyard too.

I've noticed you give a lot of careless advice when it comes to mold. Mycology encompasses fungus, molds, rust and other nasties. I suggest tossing mold. I have a friend that got trich, followed bad advice and had to permanently abandon his efforts after 5 generations of his own strain. Good luck.

Just put it outside. leave it in the tub or dump it outside. either will work.
