 How to make jars

So assuming I follow this tek

I buy the jars, add the substrate, but how do I poke holes in the lids to inoculate?

Use a 1/4" drill bit drill with the lids still on the jar

When i tried the pf tek i used 3 holes and just covered with foil

I like to cover with micropore tape or tyvek I cut the tyvek after tracing the inner lid and then cover with lid then tyvek then lid ring then I can inoculate through the tyvek through the hole in the lid. Bods easy af way to get started link

I use a number 2 Phillips bit on a multi driver and pop a hole with my palm, then wad polyfil and pull it through the hole tightly. No power tools needed.
Pf tek lids can have nail holes and micropore or no tape. I've experimented with 2 holes and 4 holes vs 1 hole on lids and it is all about even. Any advantage would be anecdotal and most likely from another parameter ime.

So once you have the holes and inoculate, do you just leave the holes open, or put the tape over the holes?
