Should I even bother opening this up and make a transfer??

Hey,

As you can see one of the inoculated pasty plates that I had in the fridge for a couple of months has what appears to be lipstick mold growing around the outside edge of the agar.
Just wondering if it's still ok to make a transfer away from this plate or is it basically fucked at this point and should I just throw it in the trash?? Cause it looks like I actually have 3 useable cultures pretty sure all are mycelium as none have changed color indicating mold it's strange that all of a sudden this lipstick mold started growing after looking fine in the fridge for months before hand.

I have limited experience, but everything I’ve read and my personal gut feeling says you should definitely try. What’s the worst that could happen? 5minuites of actual work wasted? Haha I think they will do fine just stay away from whatever that red silly string is.
My assumption is that whatever you transfer will grow quickly allowing you to work with it to seperate it from any contams.

I can't see that well, but DO NOT open it if you think it could be lipstick mold. That can fuck you up. I would PC it to kill anything in there, then put it in a Ziplock bag before you get rid of it.

If you are going to put it in a ziplock (not air tight by the way) and toss that why would you PC it first? PCing mold is a horrible practice. Jars are a buck, pasty plates are a quarter, throw that bs away.

Can always open it outside/somewhere else in a makeshift trash bag glovebox depends on how bad you wanna use it.

OP, throw it in the trash outside. That's a particularly nasty organism in there with your goodies. And clean your fridge lol.

Ok I will toss it. I think this happened because the micropore tape may have got damp in the fridge and then just wicked through onto the plate. I probably should have just wrapped the plate in foil over the top but I thought that might prevent GE and thus the culture would die

And unless you're a quite sickly person, opening that plate isn't going to hurt you. Go for it!
