BRF TEK Advice / Fruiting
    #25958334 - 04/27/19 06:30 AM (5 years, 8 months ago)

Hello friends,

I would like to get some advice/feedback from some experienced mycologist.
Started the jars at the 22.04. First they colonized very quickly then it seems like they kind of slowed down.
Here are some images. Can I start the fruiting process, do they need more time?

Thank you very much in advance.

wait until they are 100% colonized.

Then, depending if you are fruiting them as cakes you want to give them 1 week after 100% in the jars and give em the ol dunk ‘n roll.  Or if you are going to shred them to bulk, they are gtg as soon as they hit 100% and no dunk required.

You’re really close dude! gluck!

Thank you for the advice!

What is average time to fully colonize?
Started them at 22.04 kept them dark and between 28-30°C.
This is my second batch. The first started alright and slowed then down until nothing happened anymore.
From 12 jars I could use only two. It looked liked that the substrate was starting to rot.

Please forgive me but what do you mean with second method:

There is no average time in my experience just be patient if you birth too soon you will have to wait for it to colonize fully anyway before it decides to pin

My pleasure.

Colonizing times can be 4-6 weeks. There’s a lot of variables.

Darkness can work but indirect sunlight is better. There are lightbulbs that are similar to natural sunlight. I think they are called 65000k? I use indirect sunlight, I’m not sure what the right bulb would be.

I had a couple jars that seemed to stop at 97% that I birthed. To prevent contams I washed away the uncolonized areas. Keep in mind any uncolonized portion will be susceptible to grow contams.

Not sure if you flipped them upside down for pictures or not but you’re going to want to store them right side up. The holes on top allow for gas exchange.

The ones that did not fully colonize might have been choked or just gave up because of lack of light.

The less you mess with them the better off you will be. :thatsallfolks:

Don’t need a fancy light.

If there is enough natural light to read a book in the place your growing you’ll be fine
