Myc or cobweb
    #25956564 - 04/26/19 10:54 AM (5 years, 8 months ago)

Hi, wondering if this was a (cobweb) mould infection or if it was actually healthy myc?
I trashed it, but afterwards doubted whether it was fluffy myc and I was just paranoid.

Cheers

Lol yeah always,, it's so sad I don't get why it can't be asked before tossing it at the very least
Now if you pull it out of the garbage can't say how very well it will do..
It's like cooking a ton of steaks but thinking you didn't cook it all the way so you throw them all away.. when you could've continued cooking and when you realize that is when they're really fucked cause they're in the garbage now
That or you did cook them, but assume they might not taste good before letting anyone try it cause you threw it away than someone tells you they would've tasted good before you did that.. lol
Here's a tip next time don't throw anything away before asking and more importantly don't assume any growth you see is automatically a contamination
Familiarize yourself with mycelium, study it, it's growth patterns and it's looks. If you have to, be on this site every day looking at healthy mycelium, than study contaminations. Moreover, look up "cobweb mold??" Or "is this mycelium or cobweb?" Or "OMG do I have cobweb mold?!" In the search function and you'll see how often it is asked, and how very few of these people have anything remotely close to what it looks like.. and how many throw it away before asking
It is important to familiarize yourself with everything when it comes to mushroom growth before attempting it or you could have endless questions and worries 24/7 over nothing, and cause something dumb to actually happen when it was fine due to over thinking because you don't know what to think about it
I'm not trying to be a dick here but just know these things. Obviously you know how to grow it but if you don't even know what you're growing it's kinda hard to tell if you'll be successful in the end
Knowledge goes alot further than assumptions

I've never understood why it's so urgent to toss things straight away..like if something goes moldy in the fridge you don't immediately need to throw the entire contents and burn the fridge

Thanks for the confirmation. I actually put it in an outside shady location with some more verm and some leaf litter inside some old tyres in a shaded part of the garden. Looks like maybe it might still produce something...maybe
