Birthed BRF Cakes to SGFC, Sweet Smell?

Dunked and rolled BRF cakes for 24 hours. Smelled them them right after taking them out of the jars an after the dunk/roll. They had a mushroomy smell with a little sweetness to it (nothing overpowering very mild sweet smell). They looked fine, no overly visible signs of contam (although I'm a noob so maybe I didn't Identify it) Put them in the SGFC and it smells pretty strongly like a sweet/alcoholy smell
(I cleaned the SGFC with isopropyl before filling it with perlite)
One of the cakes (put in last week) is fruiting. But that smell when I open the SGFC is pretty strong (again, wasn't this strong when I birthed the cakes)
Could it be a bacterial contam? Perhaps the alcohol I used to clean the SGFC? Since one is fruiting do I wait and see or dump?
Here is a picture of one of them before I birthed:
Let me know your thoughts, Thanks!!

The smell you describe is a sure sign of bacteria..its not the end of the world, but it will reduce the quantity you get, and also makes them susceptible to mold..but until you see any its safe to continue, long as yo can handle the smell..I had a shoebox that stank from the moment it was spawned, but still got a half decent flush off it

Thanks! Yea I figured, it was weird how little they smelled out of the jar but how much it seems to smell in the SGFC. I'll keep an eye on them and the first sign of any discoloration or change in odor, I'll toss.

Did you dunk them in the fridge? Water + nutrients and warmth can lead to a bacterial explosion..better to keep it cold

No, room temperature water. Should it be ice cold water next time?

Wouldn't say ice cold, but fridge temp, around 5-8c usually, that minimises bacterial growth when submerged

Awesome, ill make sure to do that next time. Should I throw these current ones out, should I get new perlite for the sgfc due to the probable bacterial contams or can I wash the perlite/chamber and reuse?

Keep them going, bacteria isn't going to hurt anything, its only mold that's the real problem..Perlite is fine to reuse, you can bake it in th oven if you're really concerned about making sure, but given its basically glass and nothing can grow on it, just use the shower and give it a nice hot wash in the tub once you're finished, maybe spray some bleach over it etc

Yep, I meant that when I decide to toss them (due to any other more serious contaminants being introduced). I'll definitely keep them going, at least as a learning experience. This is my second grow (first was successful but I bought new jars/perlite due to noob paranoia) so it's good to hit some problems so that I can learn for the future.
I had rolled them in Verm after dunking so I cant see the myc underneath, just the verm covering it. Should I wash off that Verm so that I can observe if any nastier things grow on it or will it grow over the Verm enough to be noticeable?

You'll be good re-using your perlite..and as for the mold, you'll defo see it over the top of the verm, so don't sweat it, just leave them be, give them a mist when they look dry, have the foil they are sitting on the same diameter as the cake, and poke some pin holes in it so water doesn't pool under them

you can still salvage something by tossing it in a hole with some verm and coir

Thanks for all the help!! I think it may have been the fact that I washed the sgfc in isopropyl and didn't rinse it well enough (and that smell lingered) as it has been completely gone for days now, and all that remains is that sweet mushy smell (and things are coming along great).
Thanks again for all the help, I'll keep an eye on them but I'm cautiously optimistic
