if you are looking for a good editor try allaire's homesite. i think it is the best one. it will let you write the code without bothering you too much. you have a large amount of control over its user interface if you browse the options. i am sure you can get a demo of it from their website www.allaire.com.
allaire also sells cold fusion (i am pretty sure it is their software) and the Cold Fusion Studio

also, once you finish that asp book, go for this one called beginning ASP databases from wrox press. it is one of the best computer books i have ever read.

Sup GW, check out UltraEdit. It doesn't do debugging, but you can download word lists that will do syntax hi-lighting. It's very extensible, you can download all sortsa stuff for it. As far as online resources go, check out www.aspin.com.

Visual Interdev is the only good ASP editor. Homesite is good for HTML and Javascript but not ASP.

Interdev gives you all the methods available for objects etc.

For example if you went
set RS = server.createobject("ADODB.Recordset")

and then typed RS.
you would get a list of all the methods that the recordset object supported, along with the paramaters and param types etc.

This is invaluable if you are writing your own components or useing other peoples.

Also you can step through the code with interdev and look at the value of variables as they change etc.

BTW I do ASP for a living. Priv Msg me if you need help.

Oh yeah I think you can get a free test copy at the MS site.
