Mycelium to fruitbody ratio
    #25952668 - 04/24/19 11:44 AM (5 years, 8 months ago)

Since mycelium takes up nutrients itself, is there a danger that mycelium becomes thicc/ dense and takes away potential fruitbody yield? I guess ideal fruiting conditions would be one step to a improve proportion, but could fruiting slightly early help increase efficiency?

Often my mycelium gets thicc & very white before any fruitbody production

When the substrate is fully colonised this is the main pinning trigger. However what about out in nature? Surely there is the whole world to colonise so what triggers pins then?

I imagine contaminants living in tree bark forcing the mycelium to produce spores ASAP, I'm going to try some low pressure sterilisation with very sterile inoculation soon

There's always something else living there. So they reach a contaminant or rock or something and can't colonize further. Which brings them to fruiting.
