Understood, thanks. I think I'll do grain jars next, and am looking forward to kickstarting the next set with agar cultures instead. Our organic chicken feed looks like it could be an awesome medium: cracked corn, whole millet.
Anyway, any general tips on *spawning* in the high desert, whether it's jars, bags, or whatever? (I'm pretty sure I've got a good solution for FAE & humidity in my fruiting chamber.)

So I’m trying to come up with a system to take large amounts of sterile prints. I suppose one way to do it is make a few sab’s just for printing. (My flowhood is small) the other thing I was thinking about doing is attaching a hepa filter fan I have to an expansion tub (so I can branch off multiple lines) and feed into my old mono tubs (filter patches 3inch from botto) so the filtered air would blow in straight down from the top and constantly be pushing out the vent filters around the bottom. I could see how this could help but I could also see it blowing potential contams off the tops of caps onto foil. I tend to have a desire to over complicate things lol. What do you think? I have tons of tubs to use I also have plastic shelves I could plastic wrap but I think the tubs will be better

Hi Jake, nice to see you around here! Since you are here I would be interested in here you take on this also.
So, I know pasteurizing should be 1-2 hours at 140-160F and if you go over 170F for more then about 10 min, it might be a good idea to toss it at start over. Might be a bit dumb but since I have pros around here like you Bod I would really appreciate you comment on this. I think I found the perfect settings on my stove to keep the temp where I want it, im your curious if you think this is too close to 170F or if maybe you would read is as 170F.
Thank you for your time and help like always

Check it with a thermometer see what temp it holds

Isn't that what I'm using now?
Only have 1 more and I know for a fact that one is not correct so guess I will borrow from a friend and test it next to this one, but right now I was asking for what you guys would say its currently reading and/or if it should be fine?

No sure to contam but helpful microbes start to die off at 170. Now most people drop their bulk and 285° water or hotter and the bulk lowers the temperature to around 170 and they hold an approximate temperature for an hour or so most people use coco Coir So it’s not that big of a deal and if some of the microbes are killed on the outer layers the microbes on the inner portion that didn’t get as hot will re-planted shit but then takes longer for your micro of the count to build I am a strong believer in large microbe counts in sub to fight contams

Hey Bod,
I'm about to buy a microscope. I found a moderatly priced on Amazon (omax compound microscope/ magnification up to 2000).
Do you think that is a ok starter or should I save and spend more?
Was curious of your first one. And what one is looking for in a microscope (besides magnification)

2000x isn't truely 2000x. 1000x is pretty well the limit of optical magnification. 2000x doesn't increase the resolution at all it literally just makes 1000x look bigger.
My amscope was like 120-140 or something like that. The next step up in quality you're looking at a couple thousand dollars. The only thing more $ will buy you until you get to that next price point is gimmicks and less plastic components. But scopes don't get abused so who cares.

hey bod! so, I have followed your easy AF guides up to this point (other than using hard red wheat berries instead of oats) and this is my 3rd set of shoeboxes. These are growing short round fruits and I can't figure out why, I've read things on the forums like it may be too much humidity or not enough or too much light or not enough or even just bum genetics. What would you do to fix this? I have 5-6 more jars of colonized grain with these genetics so I'd like to see if I can save it through environmental tweaks. Right now I am using your S3 tek, leaving the lid on (not fully pushed down) during colonization, and then dubtubbing once pins appear. They get gentle natural light from above and I mist 2-3 times a day, keeping the surface wet (the mycelium does look more hardened than it did at first, so maybe it's a moisture problem). I am not getting any side pins.
What would you do?

Coir: 2nd attempt better but contamination? [Re: bodhisatta]

Hi Bod,
Initially things went much better with second attempt with saf coir method - solid white surface within 6 days but on 7th day strange pinky (later brownish) discolouration appeared in areas of tomentose growth. Contam? Parallel tub using same spawn with hpoo looks fine.

So first pic is a tub with exposed grains and second I put 1/4 coir layer on.
Question: does my first one's Surface conditions look off? It's starting to pin but not like the other. Spawned same day with same set of plates from MS master plate.

Hi Newtomyc, looking good there!
Hi Bod, I hope you are well? My question for you is.. I just put a 50/50 casing on my first Tamp trays 1/4 inch and also a casing layer on 1 shoebox of cubensis 1/2 inch thick, my question being. My casing was 65% moisture content and 7.5 PH, Should/do I need to mist my casing layer since I know I had the correct moisture content to start with? If so, how much should I mist my casing layer? Last thing I want to do is flatten it out by over misting?
Thanks for everything Bod
oh and secondly, for how long can I keep pasteurized casing around? Got 1 quart left from yesterday and some grains I was gonna case, but the grains needs 2 more days, maybe 3. Will it stay good for that long? Maybe you know for how long in total?

I'm using tyvek envelopes for filters and wanted to know the best option to seal them and safest. I thought about super glue and or silicone but don't wanna use anything that releases harmful stuff once in the PC.
