Blue mycelium in Monotub: bruising or tam?
    #25949753 - 04/22/19 08:21 PM (5 years, 8 months ago)

So last night when checking one of my tubs for pins I forgot to put the lid back on. Caught it this morning and misted the sub really thoroughly, when i got home tonight I found it looking like this. The bluing is on some weird white growth i thought was trich but shroomspective said it just looked like mycelium that had been left too wet, thats the area that is the most apparantly blue. Also the uncolonized center of the tray had some water pooling from me overmisting the dry sub and the pooled water was a yellow color. So is this just metabolites/antibiotics/bruising from me fucking up or did I give contams opportunity to get a foot in the door? Should i toss this tub or move it to a different room and see what happens?

Smell it. If it smells like old musky ball sack. Toss it
Bruising doesn’t stink
I usually do a smell whenever it looks like that

The smell is going to be bacteria, where its been too wet, plus nutrients make an ideal environment for them.

You can see the areas bruising blue meaning mycelium, you get thick mat mycelium in the case of pooled water, not enough air. Trich starts off pure white, and looks completely different texture wise, plus it smells like rotten stuff in your fridge, not sweet or alcohol like
