Birthed BRF Cakes to SGFC, Sweet Smell?
    #25948757 - 04/22/19 08:24 AM (5 years, 8 months ago)

Dunked and rolled BRF cakes for 24 hours. Smelled them them right after taking them out of the jars an after the dunk/roll. They had a mushroomy smell with a little sweetness to it (nothing overpowering very mild sweet smell).
They looked fine, no overly visible signs of contam (although I'm a noob so maybe I didn't Identify it)
Put them in the SGFC and it smells pretty strongly like a sweet/alcoholy smell

(I cleaned the SGFC with isopropyl before filling it with perlite)

One of the cakes (put in last week) is fruiting. But that smell when I open the SGFC is pretty strong (again, wasn't this strong when I birthed the cakes)

Could it be a bacterial contam? Perhaps the alcohol I used to clean the SGFC? Since one is fruiting do I wait and see or dump?

Here is a picture of one of them before I birthed:

Let me know your thoughts, Thanks!!

Probably a bacterial contamination. Not ideal, but you should leave them in your SGFC as they will still fruit.
