What to do with Rye Berries?

I bought 4 of these Rye berry bags because I had extra money left over from buying other things. I thought to myself I could maybe experiment with them or try different Teks. I currently use corn as a substrate and use cow poop, vermiculite and sometimes straw as my bulk substrate in my regular monotub. I just need ideas on what to do with them.

Sclerotia from one of the various psilocybin mushroom species which form them.
Check this thread out if you feel like it.

Ohhh I can't do them because I don't have the proper spores for that. I only have golden teacher and B+.

Do you dislike coir? For it's simplicity it's maybe a refreshing option if you are looking to mix things up with your bulks.
You could try to use it with novel substrates for kicks. You could go oldschool and do straight cased grains. There's straw logs - I haven't seen one of those done in a long time. You could try something outdoor if your climate is suitable.

Yeah I'm looking to mix things up. I haven't ever used coir so that might be something I would try. I also thought about out doors, but the only actives are found in the southern parts of the states. Do you think coir would be good for a bucket tek?

think of coir as your all in one bulk and casing material and then just throw a quart or two of spawn into a shoebox with two quarts or four well mixed. You can add things to it and some of them will help but I fell in love with it before I stopped cultivating and fell in love again last month. Like any bulk sub that holds adaquate water it's good for any containerized bulk tek. By itself it might get stale for you fast but the results are quit nice and then you start mixing it up again.
As to your climate for outdoor fun, other mushrooms growing in what proximity aren't directly relevant as long as the actual weather isn't prohibitive and you can adjust for it with shade, watering, covering, etc. Just like gardening, you can make up for what conditions lack.

I would throw them away if it were me, because premade anything is usually crap.
But put some culture in it and spawn it. What else can you do with it?

I think that was basically CypressRages question from the start. Even a ridiculous idea is better than binning it if it's in any way interesting. I bet you can come up with something.

That was my question. I wanted other ideas on ways to spawn it instead of what I always use. Pretty much gives me other things to do.

I'm going to take your advice and do that with the coir. With the outside grow I'll have to read up on that. I haven't the slightest idea where to begin.

Outside is easy. Toss some spawn in a pile of straw. Water it on days it doesn't rain and wait expect slugs and bugs to eat some. Put chickenwire or something on it to keep squirrels and stuff that want to eat your grain out.
-------------------- Yep.
