Rye Jars - Consolidation
    #25949545 - 04/22/19 06:22 PM (5 years, 8 months ago)

Greetings,

I hope this message finds ya’ll very well. I’m experimenting with rye grains. It’s been over a month since inoculation. Up until the fifth week, I’ve just come to shake up the rye to have it break up and realized a liquid was building and when I shook them up (pretty hard) some of the rye smashed up with the water and I’m not sure exactly what to think about all that. I’m attaching pictures of the mycelia, it’s clolonizing process and the cracked rye which I’m looking to mix with pasteurized cow manure, vermiculite and coco coir.

Extra: What kind of bags should be used for substrate pasteurization? Jars seem like hassle...

Ouch. I would not even consider trying to salvage that mess. You prepared to start over? I would only ever bother to put clean spawn in good physical condition to pasteurized substrates. I would not put that on anything but the trash bin.

That's bacterial and it's trash.

I had some nsns WBS jars with bacterial onset that I spawned about 70 percent colonized to sterilized coir and verm with coco casing and they are currently on 2nd flush. Seems the bacteria died or was overtaken when I moved it outside of the jar. Absolutely no signs of contamination and nice healthy fruits. If that's all the spawn you have you might give it a shot but whatever you decide don't spawn that to pasteurized poo unless you want a visit from the green monster.
