Hey everyone. I'm all out of brf but have some rye. Anyone ever try to grind rye as a substitute for brf tek jars? If so, how did it work well?

I used wheat flour and cakes colonized just fine, they are in fruiting chamber right now. For one cake as an experiment I used semolina istead of flour and saw no difference.

This is the theory we all pass around as fact anyways. Rice flour and verm = "safe" with just steaming. Grain flour and verm = 15PSI for 2 hours to get "safe" otherwise it's too likely to be contaminated.

Considering it's rye (apprently fairly clean compared to some other grains) and being ground into flour it has a higher surface area so I would think that 90 mins would be sufficient. What size jars?

This is probably a stupid question, but is it necessary to grind the rye grains into flour?

Well I was specifically looking for a replacement to BRF. If your asking if you can spawn with just whole rye grain then short answer is yes. But there is a completely diff way to prep the grain to have correct moisture and what not.
