Making WBS grain bags instead of WBS grain jars?
    #25948867 - 04/22/19 10:20 AM (5 years, 8 months ago)

Is this a thing?

Can I prep my WBS and load into bags and then PC them?

I've only ever done jars, is there anything else special I need to know in order to make grain bags?

Thank you.

Important how are you inoculating them?
Also you need to run them longer then jars

It takes about 3weeks to a month to colonize a bag, so be patient...

I’ve gone back to jars myself because I like how fast they colonize.  I do like bags for other species like oyster, and making sawdust blocks, but always had it tougher doing cube grain spawn in bags.  You have to run your PC for longer, and I think everyone who has done even a few bags would say doing spore syringe to grain bag is a waist of grain, spores, space, and time.

no it doesnt.

use a quart jar to inoculate bag via g2g. takes aabout 2weeks. same as a jar. its all about proportional inoculate.

or pur in 100ml of LC. colonize that bag hella quick.

1month??

Ok I’m gonna try it out. Using it for shiitake, lions mane and king oyster sawdust blocks.

Thanks everyone.
