Water 'Pooling' in Fully Colonized Jars
    #25946485 - 04/20/19 09:12 PM (5 years, 8 months ago)

Hi!

Searched around the forums about excessive condensation during/after colonization, and mostly said it was bacterial. I'm a bit stumped because I don't think there are any signs of contam in these jars (am I blind?) and they suddenly appeared after being fully colonized for a week.

The yellow bits are just the oats, not bacterial contam that I can usually dictate...No bad scent either!

These are Oats inoculated with agar. They do seem to be shrinking a little, too but the excessive water suddenly appearing is what concerns me.

Thank you

in my limited experience fully colonized jars do that after a while. don't worry about it. even if it's a symptom of bacterial infection, worrying won't help. my advice would be: spawn it. once you shake and open the jars, handle the contents. if your hands feel wet, you're fine. if your hands feel slimy, don't get your hopes up for great success. then go wash your hands.

Then it means it's time to spawn them.

Your getting condensation 'cause the myc is consolidating, consuming the water and nutrients in the grain.
If left in the jar your going to get pins in a couple of days.

Always follow the scent.
