New grower, something is wrong with my monotub
    #25942678 - 04/18/19 11:39 PM (5 years, 8 months ago)

Hello, newb here

Decided to start off with a monotub. Kinda had a hard time drilling holes so i settled with the bigger holes on the top and stuffed with polyfill and decided to leave the lid partially open and manually mist.

Suffice it to say I'm having problems. The pinset is entirely on the sides and bottom, and thats where all the moisture seems to be condensing too. No matter how much I mist the top I have yet to see any pins form on the top. It stays dry mostly and the mycelium is starting to turn blue from stress. The pins on the side are also only clustered in certain areas with the shrooms growing really deformed.

Not exactly sure what to do, here are some pics. Send help?

You shouldnt really have to mist a mono for the first flush, its probably bruising from being soaked , just keep the lid closed n let it do its thing:cheers:

Yeah, my guess is that you fucked up with misting. The droplets on top of the substrate are small and hardly visible. Check for glistening with a torch on your phone or something.

looks like its drying out.  hence bruising and no pins on surface.

light colored coir close to holes is kinda indicative.

close the lid? stuff holes tighter?

Yeah you jst need to learn to dial in your surface conditions.

I always get side pins. They will fit themselves in there.

I dnt have holes in my tubs. Only have a problem with drying coir when my lid is on crooked. When i leave it flipped upside down everything is fine and it gets plenty of FAE.

Too much fae and too little humidity. If it was still drying out after misting so much you basically tried to substitute mist for humidity.

Probably from a combo of the polyfill being too loose and opening the lid so much. And possibly off on field capacity.

Keep trying and you will get it “dialed in” man
