Hello all,
This is our first post here. We read a lot of different post/tek/tips before going in with my friend.
We made our first batch with EM666's tek and with some cubensis Ecuador spores.
near half of our inoculated cake did not colonized at all (we went a bit fast on flame sterilizing the needle + didn't shake the syringe well enough (we believe))
Anyway, 4 cakes got out full colonized. As suggested in EM666's tek, we did make a SGFC. dunk and rolled the cakes. All went fine.
We misted the cakes one time the morning and one time the evening. And only one of the cakes got pin and to an extent mushrooms. At some point the veil worn off so we decided to harvest them and dunk the cake.
Since the other got nothing we dunked them aswell.
Going for nearly 2 weeks now, got some pins (4) on the same cake and for the others still nothing.
I have few hypothesis: -SGFC with too much holes (so i covered 3 sides) -Too thin layer of perlite (which cause too much FAE (Fresh Air Exchange)) -Not enough mist -Maybe not enough height between SGFC and floor ? (which would cause to not have enough new air idk on that one)
I can now mist on lunch break.
We doesn't really know what our next move should be. What do you think ?

Thanks for your help, we really dig this forum and community.

It doesn't have too many holes. Covering them up makes it not work. Too thin of perlite means you have shorter time before needing to rehydrate it. More perlite is more evaporation, which pulls in air and makes more FAE more FAE is good Sgfc was invented as a solution for a man who was working 10-12 hour days in the dry ass winter mountains of Washington state. It requires basically no maintenance. Mist it as often as you shit at home or brush your teeth. Which it's easier to do than brushing your teeth don't let a sgfc turn into more work than spraying inside it once or twice a day. You can over spray and leave them completely alone for a couple days if you need. Sgfc needs at least 6 inches on all 6 sides away from walls and floors. Sgfc works better with more cakes. Pack of jars is 12 jars. Makes no sense to me to do less. Works way better packed full There's tens of millions of spores in a syringe and they're microscopic. The ones you see are clumps of hundreds of thousands of spores. Every drop of spore solution has hundreds of spores even if you don't shake that well. After flaming squirt a few drops out will cool the needle down the next drops Will be good

Are there holes in the bottom of your SGFC?
