    #25940735 - 04/17/19 10:31 PM (5 years, 8 months ago)

Hey, can anyone recommend a blower that blows around 550-600 cfm at 1.0-1.2 sp?

If it hasn't already been done, maybe someone could create or link to a page that will do calculations for flow hood enthusiasts??

I also looked into that one as well but the chart provided shows that at 1.0 sp it would provide 280/320. The filter i have requires a minimum of 470@ 1.0 sp. Would it still be ok?

Well its 500 at .8 I think you're going to have alot of issues finding one that meets your needs exactly... I'd say the only other thing was find 9ne that was way bigger then bog it down .. it's what I did with mine I used a plastic tub then cut a hole on the top bigger till it reached desired flow ..

I gave up on numbers cause my filter was a aaf astrocel or whatever off Ebay.. 24x24x12 so I just used a furnace blower

Lol I actually bought my flowhood second hand and the 1tdu2 is the blower that is attached. I felt it was too loud and i was worried it wastoo powerful and would damage the filter. Jokes how it came full circle like that. I guess the guy who actually built it had the same troubles finding a compatible blower

This is cause your choking it too much and thatll cause the motor to burn up faster.

I'd suggest making a box where the open, air intake, side is where the main motor parts are and use prefilters. It'll help keep it alittle cooler and won't burn out as fast.

I like to refurbish old squirrel cages and put new motors in them.  You can usually find them at recycled material stores and hvac shops for cheap...like $10-$20.  This company sells a variety of motors...1/3hp motors for around $90 and 1/4hp for around $70. https://www.zoro.com/century-motor-psc-14-hp-1075-rpm-115v-48y-oao-dl1026/i/G0517237/?gclid=COHjjayf284CFZKHaQod7vsEJQ&gclsrc=aw.ds
