Furry stems and superficial contamination
    #25939321 - 04/17/19 04:31 AM (5 years, 8 months ago)

Hey! I have my first growkit at home. Its a standard growkid from magic-mushroom-shop.com, sort is called red boy. The first flush was wonderful with harvested 104g fresh mushroom in enormous sizes. Because the mushrooms growed only at the sides of the cake with barely no place to go inside the box I decided for the second flush to place the cake on the plastic cover of the Box for more room to grow. Now the grown mushrooms have a furry texture on their stems.

Does someone know, if  this is normal? Maybe in the growbag it was to wet and to warm? Are they safe to eat?

After harvesting the second flush i noticed green contamination under the cake. It was as big as a cd. I cracked the cake open and it was just superficial. There was just a dark part of the cake, I think due to the extreme humidity. No green, no red, no gray on the inside. The white mycel in the cake was in beautiful condition, so i decided to cut the contamination away and water the two halfs of the cake again. Sadly I forgot to take photos of the cake.

Any thoughts?

It's called "fuzzy feet" it's from a high humidity.

Thank you! The Cake is now ready for the third flush. Let's see what happens after I cracked it and cut away the mold.
