Great mushroom recipe. Picked a small bunch of about 30 papuana yesterday. That bunch has been fruiting since early march. Looked about a heaped handful.
Anyway laid them on a plastic tray with the lid off. Put that on top of some cold wine bottles in a cupboard. Today chopped them up until crumblike in texture. Mixed in about a third avocado. Squeezed a half of lime in. Still tasted rank so added a heaped teaspoon of crunchy peanut butter.
Tasted fine. Started to come on about twenty minutes later. Quite pleasant....so far.

The peanut butter would never have occurred to me...

Makes all the difference to the taste. First found out about it back in the 1980's. Used to go to a friends place with my harvest and we'd eat them one at a time and pass the plate around.
His girlfriend was eating peanuts one day. She said try them with the mushrooms. To my surprise they took all the bitterness and yuk taste away.
Was a good trip today. Beautiful kaleidoscopes that fresh papuana can deliver so well. Intricate irridescent shimmering colours in my peripheral vision. Like peacock and bird of paradise patterns. The colours dance out in front of me as I walk along in the daylight. I dont get this on other species. I do get similar visuals on cactus tea brews though.
In a darkened room the visuals are breathtaking. Exquisite bejewelled carvings that look maori in some way. As night comes I start circle walking in a bagua fashion. Feeling more feline or even spider like with every movement.
Hard to convey these experiences with words. I hope I live to see the day when other people are writing trip reports about papuana.
Because of these effects I appreciate papuana. Along with the very clear high it provides.
Had about 1.5g dried about a week ago. They were from the same bunch. No comparison to fresh. Quite dull and unimpressive. Not so today. Very pleased.
Now we just need some rain to get that bunch to fruit again.

Found two small bunches of P.tasmaniana today. Another poor year due to dry conditions. Without east coast lows dropping considerable rainfall, they don't fruit well at all.

Wow, sounds like a beautiful trip Heyowana . So the trip from P. Papuana differs noticeably from say that of P. Sub? There doesn't seem to be that much information about them going around that i can find on the web

Check out Goldenhead beach along the way. It's a stunning place with some amazing headlands and you might get a chance to see some bumphack whales from the headlands if your game.

Thank you. Thanks ent as well. I'll try not to be a smartass but I'm incurable. Paraphrasing a bit. Mushroom expert on another website said he doubts anyone has tried papuana in the western world. He did tell me P.papuana holotype was in Mexico city. So not all was in vain.
That's why there isnt much info on the internet about them. Most noticable difference between papuana trip and subaeruginosa trip to me is the lack of bodyload on papuana.
So I can be quite out of it and walk around normally. Bit over a week ago having taken dried papuana and being disappointed with the trip quality. I ate three little bunches of P.sect.Zapotecorum. Twenty minutes later I was wobbly walking around.
Get home and all's good because it pushed me over the edge to a much better trip. I can get very speedy and talkative on papuana. I feel more dreamy on subs and P.sect.Zap.

Hey I’m new to this, just wondering what kinds of shrooms grow in NSW. Also what time of the year is best for them to grow. I have a park forest close to me would that be promising? Thanks.
I’m also in the Camden area if that helps.

Windy,
Cheers for the intel mate. She is a vast search area out there. So keen to make that first find of wild actives. Hopefully once that happens it will all fall into place.
Happy Hunting

Hey everyone
Long time lurker and 2nd season sub hunter here. I am up in the Byron hinterland and wondered if there are likely to be p.cubensis or p.cyanescens around this late in the season?
It’s had a good soaking the last few days, but before I go sussing around in cow paddocks it would be good to know if there might be anything mystical out there!
Thanks and happy hunting.

I'm not a trusted identifier but be careful friend. I;m not seeing any bruising on any of those. The bruising on the stems and cap margin should be apparent. If you get the color of the spore print and describe the habitat these people can tell you in no time at all. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/postlist.php/Board/3
Way to get out there and hunt. nice job.

Those three mushrooms in your third picture look subaeruginosa like. Even see that blue/white shimmer faintly in that middle mushroom. Would be handy to get a habitat description and some better photos. They do look a bit yellow and there are a lot of look alikes. Do a spore print.

When do you guys think NSW will experience the next dump of rainfall or cold front? I'm getting bored sitting at home.
I've got a story for you boys. So I had a close mate of mine go riding in one of the forests blue mountains way and he came across a few lads picking mushies. His interest peaked as i've been talking mushrooms for the past month. He approached the guys and asked if they were looking for anything magic. They initially denied doing anything 'illegal' but easily confessed after some conversation. My friend then asked how you would identify said mushrooms (I assume they were sub hunting) the response they gave puzzled me. They said "look for anything decomposing with blue on it" lol what, big question mark. I assume at this very moment they may be dying out with the lack of rain. But aint that some dangerous advice... who was it, fess up

Yeah a bit concerning that that is all they consider whilst hunting.

As soon as the next window opens, i'm on the lookout.
I have a 4 hour max range from Sydney and a mate who will come with me.
If anyone feels like suggesting a Picnic Spot or a scenic place, I'd be glad to learn.
I'm slightly mobility limited and on a mission to microdose for Head stuff. Any tips on process appreciated. Know every says that but yeah.
