PF TEK Help

Hello all,
Just started my journey using a PF TEK method I found on the website (prob most popular one). I have been following the method, and today, I sterilized four jars of BRF and vermiculite. I have a concern though. After I bathed them for about ~90-110 minutes, making sure to keep them out of water as the guide says, there was a distinct amount of water stuck to the inside of the jar and verm/brf mixture from condensation(?) from the heat of the bath. Is this normal? I should mention that I also covered the four gas exchange holes with a single layer of breathable micropore medical tape, and put a layer of tin foil over the top before putting them in the bath. Is there something that went wrong? I now have the jars sitting under a towel.
Please help me out because I don't know what went wrong, or if anything even went wrong!?

Here are the photos of the jars I currently have. I have a feeling maybe my verm mixture was too moist or something but I could just be paranoid. Any of you experience this before as well?

Yes to the concern. Patience and research will take you a long way in this hobby. Following the tek helps too. Pick a tek and stick with it throughout that grow. You are probably just fine. Good vibes to you and your grow. 😎👍

Your mixture looks a little too wet. How wet was the mixture before you steamed them?

That's kinda what I was thinking too as the cause for the moisture inside the jar. It was a little wet following the 2:1:1 mixture, so I added more verm to read field capacity. From what I've seen from other posters, it's normal? What do you think, cause I'm still paranoid haha!

I would recommend starting over to be honest. When u finish micing the PF material, it should look like damp sand. It should not look soaked but damp.

Thanks for the advice. Will probably restart anyways cause I'm paranoid. Weird that the 2:1:1 ratio that everyone praises made it too moist.

Hard to say. If u do start over, inspect your PF material in the jars and see how moist or dry it is. Its possible it got water splashed in it while boiling it. Its important to steam your jars on a rack or similar device to prevent splashing inside the jar.

Use masking tape on your holes. You won't have to worry about your boiling water getting in your jar. Just poke the needle right through the tape when you inoculate. You don't need MP tape. That's what the dry verm layer is for.

Everything I have seen recommends making the holes in the lids before heating. Is there a viable reason that I cannot poke the holes after heating? I would, of course, sterilize the nail first.

You need to poke the holes first. Pressure tends to make things explode. Make sure the holes are big enough for the needle.

He means place masking tape over the holes that u made with a nail on the lid. Its an extra step to the standard PF Tek.

When you can food, you leave the lid loose. I was thinking along the same lines. I thought that if I leave the holes until after, the inside of the jar would reach higher temperatures and the process would be quicker?
