Favorite Season for Camping? * 1

Whats your favorite season to camp in?

Mine is middle to late Spring, anytime during the Summer and Early Fall. I feel like the best climates to be in.

How bout you guys?

I like finding a nice remote river swimming hole in the wilderness when its hot as hell, grab some beers or even a small LSD dose and alternate between swimming and lounging in a hammock.

Doesnt get much better for me.

Sitting around a fire on a cool fall night is pretty awesome too. Spring is too cold and muddy at most spots around here.

It all depends on what part of the country or region I’m in.

SW Deserts:  Early Spring
The NE:  Early Summer or Fall
Down South:  Fall, Winter, or Spring
PNW:  Havent been so couldn’t tell you.  But I’m heading to SEKI mid-June this year for a 3 night backpacking trip.  We’ll be at 9-10k feet the entire time.

Around here, we have 9 months of winter, 3 months of road construction...

If it is around here, I like the summer. It doesn't get too hot. Spring and fall are iffy weather-wise.

I don't really camp much. I am going to start using the walking trails in our state park more. They usually get some nice mushrooms going around June. Nothing edible, just cool stuff to look at.

Did this same shelter in winter and spring

Built it in the winter

Fall by far.
Not too hot during the day, the trees are lovely, no allergies, the nights are cool enough that fire, hot chocolate, and sleeping bag are all luxuriously comforting.

Only downside is the animals tend to be more sketchy. Getting ready for winter and rutting and people hunting them. Gotta be a bit more cautious.

Last year in September I had a black bear rooting around about 50 yards from my camp. I was alone. But I built up roaring fire and went to sleep.

Fall is my favorite season in some ways, and I never camped during that time. This fall I will.

Ahhhhhh. Outdoors...

First warm spell of spring is probably worse for bears and deer animals (can't remember the family name atm) but I'm usually preoccupied with being suffocated and blinded by plant sperm. Rarely camp here after the first truly warm days of spring.

Much less hunting though.

I would very much like to learn how to do this but I feel like doing it often might be needlessly destructive to the environment.

Not criticizing, just not sure it'd be ethical here where the forests have already dealt with repeated decimation over the last 200 years.

I do think it's pretty cool though and gives you a lot more control over the warmth and comfort of your shelter.

Spring and fall. Spring for the flowers, fall for the yellow and orange aspen leaves. Love camping year round really, however those times are special

Autumn for sure. It's my favorite season! Lovely mushrooms to pick, leaves changing color, temps cooling down... aww man this is making me moody in a good way.

Yeah it definitely depends on where you're at.

For example, summer is the peak season in a place like Yellowstone or the Grand Teton National Parks. Summer up there, it still can dip into the 30's/40's by nightfall. The days typically are a comfortable 85-ish. Too cold to camp comfortably any other time but summer in that region.

But in Big Bend National Park, for example, winter is the peak season. Because the summers are unbearably hot there (110-ish type temps). In Big Bend you'd see the fewest tourists/campers in summer.

Funny I posted about bears the other day,I came back to my spot last night and a bear had tossed my stuff,no major damage as my sleeping bags r allready duct tape up from past incidents, tarp wasn't shredded or anything,a civilized bear
