favorite movie endings
    #259363 -

hey, what's everyone's favorite movie endings, where all of a sudden the whole movie changes you want to watch the whole thing over again now that you've seen it? my absolute favorites (pure genious) are;

fight club
sixth sense
12 monkeys
usual suspects
seven

i also liked the endings of

suburbia
lost highway
arlington road (but after thinking about for long enough you realize how impossible and fake the whole chase scene was)
natural born killers
cruel intentions
reservoir dogs
pulp fiction

Favorite endings...

Wild Bunch (bloodiest and coolest ending in any western)
Cinema Paradiso(see the movie, youll understand, a perfect ending....)
Casablanca(its famous, but what a great ending to a great movie)
12 Monkeys(the kind of ending I love, makes you really think..)
Fight Club(again, brilliant ending..)
Very Bad Things(come on this movie was awesome, the ending only made it better..)
Usual Suspects(of course this has to be mentioned, amazing film thanks to a perfect end sequence..)
Lock, Stock, and 2 Smoking Barrells..
Shallow Grave(from the makers of Trainspotting, an almost hitchcock like ending..)
Godfather I+II (gotta agree with Parker here, great finish to both movies..)

Can?t think of any more right now but I am sure theres lots more I forgot about.

Cheers,

Thor.

As a big Bruce Lee fan, I must represent:

Fist of Fury: the beggining of a legend

The Chinese Connection: KICK ASS movie, bruce lee showing his best moves to date. My favorite.

Return of the Dragon: Bruce kickin' Chucks ass, who would miss that? + one of the greatest fighting sequences of all time.

Enter the Dragon: the Master has arrived. Although not my favorite, this movie displays more of Bruce's amazing moves.

GAme of Death: If only he could've finished it. Still a great movie though. Especially when bruce does the kick-jump all the way up to Karim's face. Know THAT's what I call fuckin amazin'!!

finally some bruce lee fans. i fucking love bruce lee man. and everyone of his movies. he is the master. the reason i like return of the dragon so much is cause it's him against chuck norris. i hear so many people saying chuck norris is the greatest and shit and it pisses me off cause he was trained by bruce lee himself. and to see norris get his ass beat by bruce lee is just the greatest thing to me. as far as game of death. yea it does fucking rock. but i can't justify putting it above return of the dragon. if your interested in bruce lee books take a look at striking thoughts, bruce lee's wisdom for daily living. very good book. lets you see bruce lee the philosopher. not many people actually know that bruce lee was a philosopher and a very refined man. lets you see the other side.

peace out
dink

Damn, well this entire thread is pretty much spoilers, so dont blame me.......

-Clockwork Orange
Great ending even though they didn't include the last chapter of the novel..."I was cured alright!"

-Sixth Sense
Not very often a mainstream movie suprises me, even though friends had already told me the ending it still made me think.

-Chinatown
Ending really did define the film noir look about it, shot through the eye, nice touch, very nontraditional ending

-Cube
Even though not too much is revealed, the metally retarded guy is the only person whos able to really survive.

-Blade Runner
Robot saves 'human'. nuff said

-The Tenant
Thank god I was sober when I first watched it right to the end. "dont you recognize me?...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

Lot's of great movies listed here, so to avoid redundancy I'll just name movies not already listed. Akira, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Wallace and Gromit:A Grand Day Out, Brazil, Wild Things(well it had a surprise ending anyway), Devil's Advocate, Swimming with Sharks, Being John Malkovitch, eXistenZ, Silence of the Lambs, In The Mouth of Madness, etc. The first movie that popped into my head when I read the title was the Usual Suspects, and I just gotta say that Fight Club is the greatest movie of all time.

How about the ending to Psycho, where Norman is giving his speech, "I'm not even going to swat that fly..." Then he looks into the camera and smiles, and for the briefest of moments the skull-face of his mother is superimposed over his face. That moment always sends a chill up my spine.

What about Memento? Not only has it a great ending, its one of the best films released for ages. When I worked in a video shop (before I got fired for buying drugs from 15 year olds, but that's another story) we got this film in, with no real advertising, and pretty soon it was impossible to rent a copy because word of mouth was so strong around it. At first no-one rented it, but I recommended it a few people, and pretty soon all there friends were coming in to rent it.

Re: favorite movie endings [Re: Rainbow]

Memento was cool. I think it'd make a good short story (the film was based on a short story). Short stories tend to work better around one idea. I liked how in the film the main character's story works backwards but there's that one subplot (the story he tells everyone) that moves forewards. Kind of a cool interaction there. I also liked the ending. The only think I didn't care for was his narrative summary at the end. Felt a little like they didn't give the audience enough credit to "get" the movie. Otherwise it was awesome, and definately one of the least predictable films I've ever seen.
