Rapid Growth or Something More Sinister??
    #25933586 - 04/14/19 05:11 AM (5 years, 9 months ago)

Hey guys... So in the picture below, that guy was a pin about a week ago. I'm pretty sure humidity is good, the tub drops water every time I remove the top and perlite is still very moist. Was just wondering if I'm doing something wrong so I can correct it when my other cakes begin to show. Thanks!

Also as a note, I'll be adding a light directly above today. Indirect lighting seems to not be enough to direct the growth lol.

I don't see holes for your sgfc.

Probably want to show your set up if that's what you're asking about.

I'd suggest going into to coir in monotubs next time.

Seems fine. More FAE might help, but if you dont have too much in the tub it will be fine unmodified. Put the lid on upside down and crooked.

There are 16 holes around the base below the perlite line, 9 in each side in rows/columns of 3, and 6 in the lid. I also keep it next to a cracked window to help circulation. Just wasn't sure if that shroom had anything to worry about. First time grower so I'm still very much in the learning process.

From the other stuff I've read that may be the issue. I'll prop up the lid a bit. Thanks for the tips

EDIT:: Since I am really new, what is a good indication I should pick that guy? When the cap has flattened and the veil is fully broken?

I would wait until it is mostly open. The bigger your print the better I figure.

Sweet, thanks  This guy just really surprised me... went from about 2in in length and maybe .5in circumference to that in about 36 hours lol.

So a few more hours have gone by and the fruit is now bruised around the base and a couple more splits in the cap. Should I just pick it or am I being too worried? lol

Sounds like you're winging it making your fruiting chamber?

Good advice often repeated here is: find a proven tried and true tek and follow it to a T.

Use the search function for SGFC shot gun fruiting chamber, that is what cakes go in.

The vail is torn, it's ready. Any time about when you see the vail is soon to tear  is fine, opening of the cap will not add any significant weight IMO.

I did drill a few less holes in my chamber. Can't be home too often during the week so I was worried about not being able to keep up the humidity. I'll add a couple more holes and keep the lid ajar.

See the picture below. Ready to pick? Sorry for all the noob questions, just want to learn as much as I can. It looks super wet because I just misted. EDIT: Sorry for the orientation :P

Yes congratulations it is ready, now if that's your first shroom you have to eat it fresh.

cheers

Can't underscore enough, you saying you are going to wing it further is not that great to hear.

It's not that hard to follow a tek, because you won't get good results doing it your way, how could you, you're just guessing how much air to give it.

Monotubs are set and forget so another reason to consider them. No misting until after the first flush with a casing at spawning.

Good luck.

Sweeeet. Thanks for the info. Guess my Sunday just took an interesting turn.

Edit: I'll try to call an audible get my setup to match an sgfc as much as possible. That's what I was going for in the first place but yeah, had a misstep there. Hopefully It won't impact the grow too much.
