Some of the edibles we found. There were too many to fit in one basket.

Sup all.

Nice to see some minor action so far. Still a way off before the season hits proper imo but there would def be some microclimates able to produce p.alutacea and p.sub.

Back with the missus after a 3 year sep so my hunting days will be slightly down this year. Ah well.

Remember to keep the habitat shots coming when you posts your finds everyone.

And of course, safe and prosperous hunting.

Hi all! Loving the pin shots, it probably feels sucky for most of you but I'm kinda happy for the late start to the season because I've been working away (and missed out on edibles last year because of work) and it seems I'll be back for things to really kick off this time. I must be getting old because I really feel more excited about edibles this season, but I'm keen to search for new sub patches too, the local one is getting a bit crowded for my liking.

^Mycena sp. Don't assume it's safe to eat, I've heard conflicting reports about bluing mycenas. Please make a separate thread for future id requests, the TIs will be able to find you more easily.

Happy hunting!

Yummy edibles Grinch. Looks like a great day out in the pines. Do you also prepare and consume the A.muscaria? I know it's a choice edible in parts of europe but I'm not game to give it a go.

Hey VecandSally again! Good to see ya round. Have a great season :headbang:

G'day Sausages:grin: Love hunting the edibles too. It's starting to pick up out there from what I've seen. Also some porcini starting to come up in places.

A bit more pin porn from today from a couple eucalyptus patches. Central hills this time. Behind the South by a bit.

Awesome stuff Bob. Im interested in finding some Porcini this season. I remember you finding them in pines in previous seasons, is that where i should concentrate my efforts, or were you seeing them in Central in eucalypt areas too?

Hey Ooisi, you won't find them in native vegetation. They are mycorrhizal with certain European trees. You can find them fruiting under oaks or pines. I've found them in both settings. Goodluck with it. They're very sought after and very tasty.

Cheers Bob. No I’m not game to try the muscaria either at this point. Maybe later

Ps I know this is not an ID thread, but the more I look at those pins and compare them to your pics, the more I think they are subs. What do you think? My friend who has much more experience than me said no, they were gyms.

Hey guys, I’m a middle aged rookie, been quietly picking your brains for a little while now. You guys are awesome. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you guys for the selfless and extensive effort to educate us.

You guys inspired me to go hunting, but I initially had only one thing on my mind... Psilocybe. Once I got out there and started to discover the beauty in all things Fungi, I now go to simply find Fungi for fun. I look for Fungi that I have never seen before. So much fun to find something new.

Unfortunately , i have only just started taking photos of my finds.

Hope you guys don’t mind all the inactives I post, but I thought you might like to know where my northern forests are at in terms of the season ( if you haven’t been yourself, ofcourse).

Pine forest to the right, Native forest to the left.

No actives yet, but plenty of Fungi about

... and Friday at work. Northern suburbs industrial complex garden bed. MmMmmm roasted marshmallow and honeycomb. Looks delicious but is most likely toxic.... like my wife!!

Thanks again guys.

Great pics mate, there are more 'middle aged' people on here than you think. I love the inactive shots, we don't have an inactive SA thread so those pics are more than welcome in here.

I haven't headed out to the north as yet but will in the next few weeks for an edible hunt, the saffies should be everywhere now, they are a good place to start if you haven't hunted edibles before and make a good gourmet meal in the forest.

Keep getting out there and getting pics.

Went for another quick look at a few other spots today, not much around. Still waiting for those temps to drop I guess. One little photo of a small hotspot.

Found my first p.Sub of the season down south yesterday, lonely little bastard he was, even the pine mushrooms weren't giving him much company.

Hey all,

first time hunter, long time tripper. :mushroom2:

Went for a look down south yesterday for subs. Although I didn't find any I found many others. I don't believe any were actives so left them alone until I learn a little more. This weather is certainly promising!

Just a couple of pics from the day!

Hi guys i just made an account today but have been watching the boards for a little while now, I am very new to mushroom picking but want to get right into it so was just wondering if there are any seasoned veteran pickers out there that could swing me a private message when you have a spare few minutes just so I can ask you a few questions regarding how to identify actives and edibles in the adlaide area. Also if anyone is planning on going for a forage anywhere south Adelaide or in the adelaide hills and wouldnt mind a tag along just to observe and learn it would be greatly appreciated I can even drive us there if need be,i am 23 years old, absolutely love nature and have my level 3 in horticulture so have a semi good idea on plant physiology but am really hoping to find someone who seriously knows thier stuff about fungi that is willing to pass on a bit of their great knowledge and will take me under their wing for a pick or 2 just to give me an idea on the ins and outs of what should and shouldn't be touched when searching for actives and edibles . Cheers guys (p.s if this isn't where I'm meant to write a post like this or if I've mentioned something out of line I'm very sorry and please just let me know so I know for future, like I said I only made my account today so still trying to get a hand on how it all works haha
