Weird looking pins and yellowing substrate - HELP! * 1
    #25932773 - 04/13/19 04:23 PM (5 years, 9 months ago)

I spawned 10 cakes to coir 1:4 ratio exactly one month ago. Today I’m getting some trippy looking, maturing fruits. Also the sub has been getting spots of yellow most likely from over misting. (I thought they were drying out) but I can’t seem to understand why the mushrooms are looking so weird. My guess is the deformation/scarring is from battling the bacteria?? But the pins on the sides (ironically where there’s even more moisture) seem to look healthier and blemish free. So, are they getting too dry??

Here’s a pic of what they normally look like. Same species/variety. Golden teacher cubes.

Probably some sort of bacteria.

That white stringy growth along the side seems strange

your temp?
and, it looks like your humidity level is low--put a layer of verm on top.  I wouldn't worry about having darker caps, it happens.

as for the yellow it could be anything; bacteria, myc waste, water impurity residue from spraying.

You think I should add a top layer of verm at this stage in the game?

Edit:

Temp is cooler. 68 during the day, out in the open, for light. 72-73 at night when they go back in the closet for warmth. Kind of backwards from a naturalist’s POV

Cool pics!

I think there is a bacterial infection on the surface would be my guess.

yep, a covering layer of verm will help keep in moisture.

Temp and cycle are fine.
