Wait... mushboy is saying pour in 1/2 cup then set and forget on a shelf, I'm saying flood->soak->drain. I'm confused.

If I soak my shoeboxes for more than like 15-20 minutes they get waterlogged and seems to increase chances of contamination setting in by a shit load too.
For monotubs sometimes I can do like, 45mins to an hour but I wouldn't go longer than that.
That's just my experience. I mist a lot during flushes tho (not overmisting but still, heavy misting when necessary cause my house is dry) so maybe it's just cause my subs are still pretty hydrated. Idk.

I haven't misted almost at all since I started soaking for 3 hours Occasionally I get a problematic box here and there that takes a misting or bottom water, but not usually. My boxes usually go for 4-6 flushes no problem. I feel too guilty to throw them out if they're still producing without contam

Even with space restriction and diminishing returns... I'm slowly learning to "two and toss" lol

Hey I have a quick question. So I had the PC running, sterilizing 1qt glasses of wood and grain substrate. After about 40 mins I had to leave the house and to be save, turned off the heat. When I was back after ~20 mins the pressure dropped almost to atmospheric pressure. Now I put it back on. So my question is, how long do you recommend sterilizing now? I thought about letting it cook for 1 more hour. Thanks

It's not really a set time. Let water stand until the substrate soaks up some of the water. You'll know because the whole thing will weight more after you've dumped the water out.
Eat has left a whole substrate floating in his bathtub for a week while he went away and when he got back he had a floating sub with a full canopy.

Is there any coming back from over pasteurized poo? Can i leave it outside, maybe on some unprocessed poo to regain the thermophiles?

Thankfully the bigger of the two bags didn't go over temp, watching it sit at 163 with oven off, door open and fan on it. Hoping it'll drop a degree so i can close it up and go eat lol fuck it just jumped to 165

I've been pasteurizing 50/50 mix in jars on my stove. It works really well once you get the timing down it's easy peasy set and forget. Check out Frank's tek on pasteurizing his casing, that's what I've been using.
I've heard oven pasteurizing is a real bitch and hard to get right but I've never tried it so no first hand experience

Yeah I would let the sub get to about 135 then take out and it will raise to 160 on its own

Ive done it a few times, i only ever fuck up when I'm trying to rush things. No biggie, just gunna add time. Pasteurizing on the stove is a pain in the ass when you are doing a lot at a time
