derp, that article contains NO science, literally every one of the references is reviews of literature or surveys, completely useless, and its obvious the angle was to push for a pharmacological way to keep people from getting "high", strange how they left out all the known benefits, just one being seizure mitigation, nice try though

I love weed, it's great. But... It is a drug, same way the poppy plant is a drug. Both are great actually. One is much less harmful though. Still both definitely drugs and both present a set of problems, although the list of problems for one of them is much less than the other.

wrong, the poppy plant is no more a drug than strawberries, and it is quite harmless in normal use, its hard to overdose on poppy seeds

i think you all are using the term colloquially, as in manufactured drugs like opium/heroin and cocaine, but the plants are not drugs, weed is not a drug, poppy seeds are not a drug, if you start thinking this then you have to expand your definition of drugs to the full extent, which then includes all foods, which should not be hard to understand considering so many people have an unhealthy addiction to food

yep, remember we are discussing a colloquial difference without distinction, the word drug can be applied to almost anything, technically the color red is a drug because you consume it and it changes physiology, same with plants, the problem with calling plants drugs is that then the word "plants" loses relevance, if you focus on a certain aspect of a plant and then isolate that substance you automatically lose the plant as a whole and can now meaningfully describe the substance as a drug
