Are those sporeless? Beautiful nonetheless
That tray I had posted was made from LC to sterile bulk and gave me four flushes before the casing was so torn up and covered in spores it couldn’t produce anymore. I think the key is knowing when the bag is fully colonized and then letting it sit another week to consolidate, at least that’s what’s been working for me.

Could I just inoculate the rye/millet with the spores and not do any agar?

Sure if you want to deal with wasted material in the hopes that you win the contamination lottery.

Pans are much less forgiving. I’m not gonna say it’s impossible but you will never have consistent success without agar. Even with agar there are ppl who struggle for several months before getting decent returns If any. Without agar they are really gonna beat you up to the point you will give up on em or learn agar

I should add to this: if you have someone that can provide you a clean LC and knows what they are doing with respect to LCs, then you never need to touch agar. In fact, agar is FAR more difficult than propagating a good LC. The problem is, though, that you need the right lids and syringes to make it happen. And you need someone that knows what a good LC even means. Once you have that I've taught many people to grow using LCs, and not one of them went to spawning afterward. I never start a newbie with agar, even if they are growing pan cyans. That's because they need the basics first, and to me, liquid culture is the basics, not agar. This is an outlier view, though, which is why so many "advanced cultivators" show more pictures of agar plates than they do heavy high-biological-efficiency flushes.

Idk man I just made that batch of PR LC a week or so ago was it? Maybe 2 and my A2G jars finished much faster. Now this is going LC to Grain I know you go LC to bulk which I’m gonna take another wack at but ime my I always got better returns using Grain as opposed to what my LC to bulk trays gave me, but BH has full canopy grows as well using LC so that most likely is a lesser factor if any. I don’t have much difficulty going A2G, Maybe it’s just personal preference I don’t know but I like being able to see my cultures on the dish and I never need to make more than one or two trays of any specific iso at a time, so making an LC just isn’t necessary for my means. However and I’m just guessing here that if you are trying to skirt around agar it is because you do not have a satisfactory clean environment to work in and if this is the case you are going to have just as difficult a time making a sterile LC

I do think I am going to start using it for long term storage of pan cultures tho BH You said you have had pan LC keep for several months right?

I won't speak for BH, but I am going to guess the answer is yes because he's the one that got me hooked on storing LC in vacutainers. I have revived after 2 months no problem but haven't gone longer than that. If I am being honest I have had them die in that time, too. It's been 50/50 for me so far.

I don't use agar for pans either. Pf tek with pan friendly recipe > clone fruit > lc > ... 24 - 36 jars will fit in a cooker = lots of clones to choose from. It's best to choose several because often the biggest, best looking fruit doesn't translate into the most productive culture. I think many people that are having difficulties getting good flushes are: 1. chasing the wrong mycelium down to t5, t6, etc. 2. selecting only one clone and putting all their effort into it when they should be selecting from several clones .

When you clone your fruit you use agar to clean it tho right? I can’t imagine a high success rate of dropping Pan tissue into LC directly

BH I did just get a bunch of new lids For LC I’m gonna try a few more LC to bulk this week, if I can get the same print return with the same or better consistency I wouldn’t be opposed to having to buy less grain lol I can only speak from my experience with all this tho I learned to grow pans on agar perhaps that’s y I think it’s easier,

Question! What mix of sand do you used for your casing I really didn't see the measurements or maybe I missed them somewhere.

I just use 50/50 verm and peat moss with a few handfuls of crushed oyster shell balanced to 7-7.5 with HL (but normal I don’t need much HL if any) I’ve not used sand for pans Before but I’m sure it would work if you kept it thin enough
