My manure looks like it has a lot of straw in in already. Should I cut it some more or use as is?

No I’m mostly run pasteurized bulk I have made sterile work but I get better results personally using pasteurized my trays are able to resist contamination longer and yield me more, As for your pool it does look like there is a decent amount of straw in it it all depends on what it’s like once hydrated you don’t want a wet sloppy mud pie but if it’s still feels kind of fluffy sort of like hydrated Coco coir then I’d say you’re probably OK

I've been wondering for awhile now is there something you do jake to make the fog disperse more evenly across all the trays?

Hi JOC thanks for all,. i have succes with wild LC directly, the best for me is sumerge all the stalk in sterilized water, then in peroxide and then in sterilized water again for washing the exces... i cut a piece of the middle, open and throw to the LC. i have months in the fridge and still working.
i Take this oportunity for ask what do you think of Doing 24 hs fan with a rpm regulator..? and make fogger cycles with common timmers 15 ON 15 OFF.
thanks again for all your contribution..

The timer is for your fogger are going to vary depending on your environment I have to change my timers around him several times a year I will even adjust throughout the grow sometimes. What you want to do is get a feel for what your trays should look like then you can fine-tune your system to maintain it

Jake you ever cover with holed foil or saran for GE while it colonizes? Are the lids unlatched to ensure proper ge?

No I just latch the lids although I will open each tray inside my hood for about 5 min halfway they colonization I dont always remember to but it def speeds things up a lil bit and helps finish up remaining brown spots

Hey JOC,
My method for pasteurisation is similar to yours. I mix/hydrate my substrate, then I vacuum seal it into bags. I put the compressed logs of substrate into a 20L bucket filled with water with a Sous Vide running to keep it at the ideal temp for long periods of time.
I've never deliberately left my substrate to allow microbes to grow, but I did have a great yield using a bag I'd left in a cupboard for like 9 months lol. My question is do you think the beneficial microbes would still grow/multiply without much available oxygen?

I don’t know exactly what grows I store mine in 2.5 gal ziplock bags I’ve found they work best having sat for about 7-15 days (although I haven’t really tried waiting longer) it’s pretty consistent tho the aged stuff seems to work a lil better

Hey JOC just wondering where you source your magnesium phosphate from? Having issues finding a supply without being related to an organization/institution. Cheers

I got it from thermo fisher but you don’t have to have it. Most of the time pans will germ fine on mea or any traditional agar recipe. For the majority of my plates I like a 4% agar. That means that my starch and sugar total is 4%. If you use peptone count it for double that of other sugars. So if your going for 4% with peptone u actually wanna make it 2%

Hey Jake,
Thanks for sharing this! I'm trying to build a similar setup to the monos. I just got an Air Innovations humidifier, and closest hose I could find at Home Depot to the ones in your images was a bilge hose. It is quite a bit smaller than the opening in the humidifier, though. Is that what you used just with a lot of tape, or do need different tubing? I read through page 15 of the tek and didn't find an answer yet, so apologies if it's in there somewhere.
Thanks!

Try to find oat and chaff if you're struggling to find straw. When I grew oysters it was impossible to find straw but I could get bails of oat and chaff, you just have to be careful and up the spawn to avoid contamination from the pasteurized oats.
