Abnormal Flush

Hello, all
This is my first post, but I'm definitely a loooong-time lurker. I have quite a few successes under my belt, but this latest flush is quite strange.
Some info about the tub: it's Mazatepec, in a TL-style one-flush wonder mono, coir/verm prepped per Damion5050's tek, spawned from WBS.
Some of the fruits look like mini PEs, but all seem to have torn their veils far too soon, yet continue to grow. They are still short, but bigger than aborts. Also, there are quite a few mutants, including some one-cap-two-stemmers.

As unique as these fruits look, they're far from ideal, especially for a first flush. I'm curious if anyone knows what may have caused this? They haven't been getting a full 12 hours of darkness, but I'm unsure whether or not that would cause this.

nice mutants! lol awesome grow btw. dude my very first grow was PE and i shit you not i had one grow upside down.. i wish i had a pic but it was before i owned a smart phone lol seriously tho.. the shit was upside down.. and i ate them fresh with a friend. i bought spores and used grain bags and throughout the night i kept saying, "i got this shit from the internet" and my roommate kept freaking out everytime i said that. he had some serious ego death. he kept saying, "dude i feel dead.. i am dead." it was freaky.

I'm not entirely maybe just not as good genetics as you hoped for? I have heard poor fruiting conditions can cause small and skinny fruits. I had some Creepers grow like this once on the sense of small and skinny fruits that is.

Is it multispore? If it is, your subs probably just dry.
If it's a clone, it's just an unlucky pick genetically. Just a bad fruiter.
Sometimes I'll get a lil mutant flush before a proper flush, just happens sometimes.

Too much FAE, keep the lid closed all day, or tighten the polyfil.

Thanks, everyone, the feedback you've all provided is certainly appreciated.
@split_by_nine Haha what a trip (no pun intended). I had similar feelings when I first got into the hobby and experienced the fruits of my labor for the first time. I still kind of have that feeling, because I think the free transmission of information is such a beautiful thing, and it's the aspect of the internet most taken for granted. But I digress... haha
@Sandman450 Yeah, poor genetics was my first (and most feared) assumption. But this is the first tub I've done in awhile, and it's also my first time going through this particular sponsor, and I feel I would have some seriously poor luck if that's the case haha.
@impatientguy Yeah, it's MS, sorry I forgot to mention that. If it is just dry and I can still get a proper second flush, that would be such a relief. I'll be sure to do some seriously heavy misting once the first is harvested. Thanks for alleviating some of my concern haha.
@Mr. Funguy I have had the lid closed the entire time, aside from when fanning and misting, of course. But the polyfil has changed density quite a bit. Currently, it's relatively tight, so I'll probably leave it for now.

I'll send vibes to you for a great second flush! Ms grows are such a crapshoot. Got me into agar because I was sick of having monster fruits next to shrimp dicks lol.

Hey, fellow mycotics, wanted to update you all.
First, I believe the issues that were causing the large number of mutants were lack of strong light and lack of complete darkness. Once I put a light over the tub, rather than simply utilizing ambient light from the window, cap size began to increase. Additionally, the increase in the amount of time dedicated to complete darkness caused the stalks to become thicker and longer. This was my first time using that location for growing and didn't consider the fact the window is facing a different direction, and that the tub was placed in a room that received very little "dark time".
Needless to say, I'm a firm believer in the importance of strong lighting and long periods of darkness haha.
The first flush yielded approximately 6.5oz, a little less than expected but I'm definitely not complaining considering how it started off. The second flush is looking very promising, though I sadly have no pics to share at the moment.
I do, however, have a picture of a strange fruit from the first flush. It has some sort of growth coming from under it's cap. It almost looks like a mini fruit.

I've never seen anything quite like it haha.

Short maz are from too much fae and too much light, it sounds weird I know, but I kept them in the dark for 18hrs then light for 6. They shot from 1.5" to 4" over night.
