Ball/Mason jar caps and pressure cooker questions
    #2591484 - 04/22/04 04:54 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

I bought some Ball plastic caps to use for my jars. The caps say not for processing, storage only. Can I still use these caps for pressure cooking or do I need special plastic caps for this? Can I use the metal caps? If I do use the metal caps, do I have to worry about the rubber seal melting and water leaking in when pressure cooking? Do I have to worry about rust with the metal caps?

My pressure cooker is a cheap Manttra aluminum pressure cooker 6 qt. Its made of aluminum, should I worry about that?

thanks
chris

Plastic are fine, the metal is fine(wont melt the seal),and metal lids will rust around injection holes sometimes, but thats nothing to worry about.

Butternut squash are softer than acorn or other types of squash, which makes them easier to cut and prepare.
