Hello citizens of the Shroomery!
I’m just enjoying a nice lazy morning with my family. Wife took today off, horray!
On our way to the Urban Egg for some breakfast. Excited to see what Lily has planned for us after that. Having some friends over later for cards and festivities.
Besides that, I’ve just been being a boring sober mom. Been playing a lot of Magic the Gathering Arena, and World of Warcraft, Still drinking a lot of tea and eating a lot of Mexican, also pho and curry. Been trying to cut sugar from my diet slowly, so unsweetened black tea for me.
What’s up with you?

I went to a gaming convention this weekend in Boston. Truly, the nerdiest thing I have ever seen in my life. Learned a good lesson to not go to things I have 0 interest in because friends are going; I was bored after about an hour there, and upon realising I lost the 2C-B I brought to entertain myself combined with the fact that they had closed the bar (it was a 'dry' event) I got myself the fuck out of there and went and partied the night away in the city.

Hi
I'm home too. I was going to go ride my dirt bike, but it is raining so I'm going to stay in and respond to my customers calls instead. I'm making eggs and bacon for the wife, but probably won't eat much myself. I like to build my hunger up to lunch and sometimes dinner. I don't know if that is healthy, but it makes me look like a sexy MF'r

Only users lose drugs!
Still getting over this fucking cold thing, stuffy head, body aches, slight cough. Slightly better today. Still coming in to work, but slacking some by posting here, lol. I'm on hold with work comp actually. Some patients need to take more responsibility in their own care. I make calls that the patient should have/could have done.

Happy birthday and stuff
been playing hours upon hours of Tropico 6 while also trying to remember to shave and shower to keep my face in-check for my next laser appointment (Friday)
also started seeing a new OCD counselor on a roughly weekly basis she is thankfully quite patient with me; trying to break out of some of my more severe patterns is enormously stressful
more or less the same old

I'm into gaming and that doesn't even look fun to me. Looks like they need more video games for people to play. I'm not big into conventions though.
I went to a weed convention near me that was pretty cool and boring at the same time. You basically just went from table to table and checked their jars of weed and then they would light up a dab or bong for you to hit for free. That was cool, but I was like I could just do this at home.
Probably what that is like. You would probably have more fun playing video games with friends at home.
How do you like Boston. I've never been to that area? Is it pretty nice or worth visiting? I forget, is that where the "Cheers" bar is. I would love to go have a drink there. I love that show!

It's the American way. I am amazed at how frequently in this country 'they' can take something that should, by all rights, be fucking cool, and turn it into a horrible, soulless, consumerism and profit based nightmare. I went to a dispensary in Mass a couple of weeks back since they've gone recreational there, and was amazed at how much of a shit experience it was. That's the fourth I've visited across this country and they've all been a big letdown. Amsterdam does it WAY better.

Meh. It's a big city. Nothing about it that stands out to me over most big cities.
There's a few really special ones out there in the world. I wouldn't count this as one of them.

What's the coolest city you've been to? I really like the way a lot of European cities look in places like Belarus, Czechoslovakia, and Germany. Lots of history and classic looking architecture over there.

Interesting. I never would have guessed you would say New Orleans or London. My favorite city I've been to is the one I moved to. San Francisco and after that I would say Ashville, NC or San Diego. I don't really get out of the US much so my experiences are limited to good ole US of A and Windsor, Can.
What's the coolest thing about New Orleans? The music scene or the party vibe or something I'm not aware of?

Thanks for the Birthday wishes guys!
@JokeShopBeard Are you seriously complaining about going to Pax east? I’d kill to have gone and see the Mythic Inventational in person.

conventions are kind of what you make of them the convention floor (pictured) is gross; it is a mass of increasingly smelly nerds mulling about, each day that passes they get worse as they don't shower but if you have a specific company or series you are a fangirl of, the convention floor is also typically an opportunity to get unique merchandise really petty stuff, but if you are the type of person who collects pins and buttons you can get a number of things for just visiting the booths
the reward of conventions is the panels and the more general opportunities that they bring JSB prolly had no interest in this particular event himself, but if he had been visiting that same convention with me would have dragged him to one of the Bethesda panels, and asked him to prop me up/be a source of courage so my legs don't give out in approaching the microphone during question period to ask Todd Howard if their games will ever return to the depth of character customization they used to have where Daggerfall let me choose various in-universe languages my character could speak, and New Vegas let me identify as a lesbian and have related dialogue in the world while Fallout 4 railroaded me into a heterosexual relationship, then had me tell a nice ghoul lady she was not my type due to pining over my dead husband while my lesbian lovers Piper and Curie stand right beside me waiting to get the ghoul in our gal gang and then also egg Todd on to say "trans rights are human rights"

similarly, when going to an anime convention years ago got the opportunity to ask the director of the English translation of Neon Genesis Evangelion to expand on a point he made on the commentary of the dvds he had mentioned that Evangelion follows Joseph Campbell's account of the hero's journey and it was actually the thing that had me look up, and eventually become interested in, Campbell's work so at the panel, asked him if he could explain whether he meant the inner hero's journey or the outward one and he explained how the challenge in translating the series was to convey the Japanese focus on the inner journey (ie: Shinji getting over his depression) while appealing to an American audience and funding that was focused on the outer journey (ie: the robots attempting to save the world from the angels) and how the same story represents two different forms of hero's journey, based on the cultural context it is consumed in
also got to talk to the lady who did the English voice of Asuka on the convention floor, which was fun even if the subtitled Japanese audio is still my preferred version of the series

Too true, I can easily see it just being an over filled room with stinky people if you aren’t interested in anything going on, but as someone who spent all weekend watching live coverage from the Magic tournament happening there, to hear someone was actually there and left, I’m just like, whhhaaaaaaa?!?
@loph My wife made me German Chocolate cake! 26 candles... I’m old now.
