If you are too poor to afford dispensary weed for your ailment;
You can just pay annual $150 for a doctor visit, annual $50 for a medical patient application, then you can cultivate for "free"

Or, if you are just a fine upstanding citizen who doesn't smoke weed, but has a fascination with horticulture in general, and specifically, the oldest and most important medicinal herb, well, fuck off, this state doesn't give a shit.
It is more important to grab your taxes.

Its easier and easier to get a medical card. I can do it now. (PTSD).
I think itll expand much more. I bet it really wont be hard, and jersey might allow growing, which would make for competition. This whole thing is a race. NY vs NJ
The bill itself btw says youd be able to grow. But yeah i heard the address where they just want to sell commercially unless youre a medical patient. Everybody in NYC, Get your cards. Chronic pain if nothing else. Maybe even opioid substitution. Some MMJ docs are cool with that

Today North Hempsted banned the sale of recreational marijuana if it was ever legal, becuase people complained
NEWSFLASH we already have kids in high school smoking pot, north hempsted is basically a synonym for "crack den"
the gesture is just laughable
these people are just doing it to themselves

First of all the summary says: Enacts the "marihuana regulation and taxation act"; relates to the description of marihuana, and the growing of and use of marihuana by persons twenty-one years of age or older;
Heres something randomly interesting: "Opiate" means any substance having an addiction-forming or
17 addiction-sustaining liability similar to morphine or being capable of
18 conversion into a drug having addiction-forming or addiction-sustaining
19 liability. It does not include, unless specifically designated as
20 controlled under section [3306] THIRTY-THREE HUNDRED SIX of this [arti-
21 cle] TITLE, the dextrorotatory isomer of 3-methoxy-n-methylmorphinan and
22 its salts (dextromethorphan). It does include its racemic and levorota-
23 tory forms.
Ive seen this before, dxm protection from the word "opiate". Really only levomethorphan is an opioid. Dxm is just a dissociative that can potentiate opioids. As is evident from the last line. Racemic dxm, i wonder if thatd be like dissociation and being doped up all at once
But the real question is will they allow home grows by the time this is passed? They say they will for medical users, i hope its more than that. Although thats still a solid step forward. I hear washington state doesnt allow growing at all, if im correct. I also dont get why theyre using the language of the "dread marihuana" from reefer madness
I think Cuomo is trying to make NY into what SF was in the late 90s. A superliberal hub. And good, if it works. Id rather live in a super progressive city (if it makes good on its promises) rather than some conservative little town

I'm a new Yorker, and honestly I don't really care about legalization at all. Once it's legal, it will be outrageously taxed.
Even when it's legal, I'll still buy my weed illegally.

NY recreational legalization will be dropped from the budget.
Governor Cuomo remains positive on the chances to reach an agreement by June.
The bill faces opposition from black lawmakers because they want their communities to have a larger share of the money than white communities.

i live in rochester NY and there are already ads on the radio for various up and coming dispensaries. Hell we turned a huge Kodak building into an enormous grow.
our local paper got a tour.
everyone i know is either indifferent or is behind medical(at the very least) MJ so im not sure where the huge public outcry is coming from.
maybe the politicians are milking the situation for funding and after there is another vote it has to go thru, there is so much money in taxes that will come from dispensaries.
i have never meet someone super against weed, they either smoke and if they don't use MJ they dont really care.
as far as the driving thing, who wants to drive around high? obviously i have first hand knowledge with the effects of THC and driving and i think its just stupid and a waste.
we have all meet people who take one or two puffs get really spun out. People who don't smoke weed a strong edible could definitely have some heavy effects where it is unsafe to drive, so i get that.
some people do love to meet up at a park and go for a walk and smoke in a park or some other activity where at the end of it you feel perfectly normal and safe to drive, however if you get pulled over and they give you a dwai, they make you pee in a cup and send it off.
my problem with that is THC stays in your system for a longtime days to weeks but has no effect on your ability to drive but the lab will have found THC. You could just say its from two weeks ago and they would have a hard time proving otherwise unless the levels went UP between tests.
it would be a nightmare in court unless the cops found a joint or whatever on you

In NYC theres a highway robbery "medical" system but its complete bs. Theyre "technically" dispensaries. Im just hoping one of the tristate area states can actually fucking succeed in legalization.
If it was a vote, most people here (61% or so) say legalize. But with these politicians debating it, then saying "we dont want legalization if white people run the dispensaries", and im sure also anti-legalization lobbies and prison money, and crazed teachers and cops thinking adult use marijuana is gonna make it into the hands of the children (its so much easier with the black market, are you crazy?)
Its such a complex process in NY and NJ. I lived in LA in 96 and i barely even heard any "controversy" when the first real legal ("medical") weed law was passed

I know of absolutely no one having issues with driving after smoking weed, but throw in the devil's drink alcohol and all kinds of trouble crops up.
