What kind of sounds do you consider to be funky in music you enjoy?
The voices they do on this track are pretty obnoxious but it's worth listening to the whole thing. The synth solos are sampled in so much stuff.

There’s the “regular” funk stuff I like, like George Clinton, Average White Band, Lettuce, etc. In a couple months I’m going to see a concert of Parlaiment Funkadelic, Fishbone, Galactic, and Dumpstaphunk. The first real song my son ever heard was ‘Atomic Dog’, lol.
There’s also a bunch of electronic musicians making a very retro kind of dance music that’s ironically called “Future Funk”. It’s a kind of plunderphonics thing, and some of it is pretty dank. Here’s a track by Saint Pepsi.

Also, thanks for sharing that first track. I didn’t know it but I love hearing where sounds originate. Dr Dre owes those dudes.

Yeah seeing Parliament Funkadelic would be awesome. I think when I checked there were no Canadian dates though.
This Lee Dorsey performance has some pretty funky sounds I think.

I'm not sure if it's correct to call them funky, but the Afghan Whigs is the most rhythmic music I've ever heard from white people.
I was surprised to hear George Clinton and his two bands were still doing it.
Sly and the Family Stone were always my favorite.
