Old All American PC
    #25905633 -

Hey guys, first post to the cultivation thread. I just got this old All American and wasn't sure if it was safe to use. It's missing a clamp as you can see in this picture.

I tried it out last night, got it up to 15 psi then released the pressure. Worked fine. It had a little pressure leak issue that was quickly resolved with more tightening. I just want to know if it is good to go for a no pour agar cook.

You can get parts on the AA website. I would replace that missing clamp before trusting it.

If the gauge or vent valve leaks, replace them to.

Vaseline will help the maintain the seal between lid and base.

never use it without all the clamps.
The cooker itself is fine I have one that old too.

Any idea what the model is or when it was made?

There should be some model numbers on the plaque or something similar.

I think all the sterilizer models end in X(stop cock instead of weight).
Mine is a 1915x and can fit 5 quart jars straight up in it's basket. 7 jars if I remove the basket. Hopefully that helps narrow it down.

There should be a date stamp either on the bottom or under the lid.

This is mine that was made in 1992, either January or June I think.

Not as old as yours though so may look a little different.

I got a washer and nut that fit on the screw and tighten it down properly. Should it be good to go?

I'm not 100% on this, but if you're gonna go this route maybe some thread tape or lock washer and tighten snuggly with a wrench to make sure it's not gonna loosen up on you . I'd worry about it working back out a bit.

The actual part would be better.

You'll be fine with the nut until you get the replacement part. It won't back off. Dont crank it down real tight with a socket wrench though. Just snug like the others.

The replacement part is Part 64 Bakelite Knob. Google or check vendors.

Not sure what they currently recommend, but when I got mine they recommended olive oil. I just swab it on with a heavy cloth and make sure no fibers are left behind. I'm sure Vaseline works just as well.
