You don't pasteurize coir with a bucket you hydrate it. And you can use any container with a lid, I personally cook mine for about 20minutes in a stock pot, but that's unnecessary.

Probably if its sealed up should be fine.

I used coir straight from the bag, and 50/50 brf crumbles and had no issues

Don't pasteurize coir just pour boiling water on it

:whathesaid:

I just poor boiling water over it until its slightly below field capacity.

I use a bucket but anything that wont melt or break will be fine to hold it.

Sterilize verm/coir subs

Pasteurization is for manure based subs. Pasteurization doesn't kill the good bacteria that's in manure, coir doesn't have it.

I fill up myco bags with coir/verm 50/50 with gypsum and just steam them for 90 minutes in a 20qt steamer pot. I'd rather overkill the sterilization. One of my myco bags holds a monotubs worth so they are fairly chunky as well.

True, but it's also very microbial resistant and it doesn't require an actual pasteurization or sterilization.

Bucket Tek still works, even though its old:thumbup:
