so....my trunk rattles a bit(from the outside, cant hear it at all inside) so my plan is to tighten any nut bolt and screw I can find and possibly put rubber grommets where I can, also im super cheap and I like the challenge of finding new ideas for old problems so instead of that sound mat stuff what else do you guys think I could use? egg cartons? mcdonalds cup holders?

EDIT: plan b is already in motion(ordered 1500watt amp(500w rms) ) ill just crank it up until nobody can hear the trunk rattle....or it falls off, either way problem solved :p

The best advice I can give you is to make sure your license plate isn't causing the rattling noise.

If it's not that, I like using cheap foam from amazon. You can buy strips or blocks of it in different densities, and basically just carve/cut it up, shove it in anywhere that a rattle could occur.

The foam has a dual purpose as it'll insulate the trunk giving you a better sound to your subwoofer.

The carpeting in trunks of cars also have little plastic pins and other small parts which can cause rattling noise. I don't suggest you go cutting up your trunk carpet though. Kind of a last resort.

ok the new 1500 watt amp I have keeps blowing the fuse in the amp :frown: i disconnect negative in battery, hook everything up, and then when I put negativr terminal back on battery it startssizzling then when i move the terminal to take it off it blows the amp fuse..... help? :frown: (the 250 watt amp works just fine with same setup, everything is connected properly so wtf...)

nah i quadruple checked connnections and the negative terminal on batgery gets hot and sizzles when i connect it then when I go to take the terminal off it blows the fuse..... now im out of fuses :frown:

nope using same onrs that came with it. why would negative terminal get hot but other amp it works jusg fine? maaaan.... going to get fuses ugh

Good. 05-07 was the time I was installing systems as a job.
Should be able to help you out a bit.
I know nothing of newer cars as far as how they're wired for sound.

It could be so many different things. Or a combination of issues.

And what kind of 1500 watt amp is it?

Not implying that yours is, but half of the time that I'd get a car in with this issue, it was simply because it was some cheap Chinese amp that didn't work properly in the first place.

its a boss 1500 watt mono block. yeah its cheaper but every other boss product ive has has been amazing :/

Boss products are good for the most part. I was talking about offbrand/knock-off amps.

Since this happens as soon as you make the connection, something is grounding out.

First thing I'd do is check the power wire for any knicks or cuts in the insulation.

Are you using crimp clips to connect the wires to the amp, or are you running the wires straight into the amp terminals?

omg.....it was an ID-10-T error :facepalm: had remote wire on constant and constant on remote....so glad i didnt burn the amp up....works great and looks good now! :thumbup:
