True dat but you don't need 6mg a day. Besides, sadly, your calculation is for shit. Borax weighs 5g/teaspoon and is 10% elemental boron. That means your "concentrate" is only .5mg/cc. One teaspoon of that shit is actually 5mg. You do that 2x/day and you're getting 10. when all your really need is 150 MICROgrams. You're taking over 30 times more than you need.

You really should talk to your doctor about these dietary experiments.

Borax:  Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal distress including nausea, persistent vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Effects on the vascular system and human brain include headaches and lethargy, but are less frequent. "In severe poisonings, a beefy red skin rash affecting palms, soles, buttocks and scrotum have been described.

Just because a compound has a trace element in it doesn't mean that your body can metabolize that compound or that said compound is safe for ingestion.

Quote:

Though there is no official minimum intake for boron, government agencies did establish the tolerable upper intake level (UL) for it. The tolerable upper intake is “the highest level of daily nutrient intake that is likely to pose no risk of adverse health effects for almost all individuals.” So, you shouldn’t take more than the UL for boron a day.

The tolerable upper intake level for boron is as follows:

Adults (19 years and over): 20 milligrams a day
    Children
        1–3 years: 3 milligrams a day
        4–8 years: 6 milligrams a day
        9–13 years: 11 milligrams a day
    Teenagers (14–18 years): 17 milligrams a day
Pregnant or lactating teenagers (14–18 years): 17 milligrams a day
Pregnant or lactating women (19–50 years): 20 milligrams a day

Researchers have no relevant data to decide how much boron infants (0–12 months) need. So, babies shouldn’t get boron from other sources except food and formula.

If you take more boron than the tolerable upper intake level (20 milligrams a day), it may be toxic for you. The signs of boron toxicity in humans include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, dermatitis and lethargy.

If you ingest more boron than you need for a longer time, you may develop chronic boron toxicity. The symptoms include nausea, lack of appetite, weight loss and decreased sexual activity. If you have any of these symptoms, speak to a doctor immediately.

gopher, Look at it this way. Plants start developing boron toxicity at levels over a kilogram per acre. That's about how much was there before soil depletion kicked in. If you raised an acre of broccoli on that treated land you'd get about 10,000 pounds of broccoli and if all the boron went into the heads you'd have 100mg boron/pound of broccoli. But it doesn't some goes to the roots, some to the leaves and stalks but most stays in the soil or washes away.

Bottom line is that you end up with a vanishingly small amount of boron in a healthy diet. Don't confuse the maximum-you-can-eat-before-it-starts-to-kill-you numbers with what you actually need.

You can’t argue with these alternative heath wackjobs. If you told them eating dog shit was bad for you they would ask what the best dose is.

The only hope is they die or become infertile before passing on their defective genes

is that a uniquely human characteristic?
rabbits are known to eat their poop because they don't digest all the nutrients the first time through
but they don't drink their pee

nvm, apparently rabbits do it because they are vegan
Quote:

Rabbits are foraging herbivores, eating mostly grass and weeds. But this fibrous, cellulose rich diet isn’t the easiest to digest, and by the time their dinner has make it through their intestines it still contains many of the nutrients the bunnies need.

Rabbits and hares beat this problem with a special kind of digestion called hindgut fermentation. In short, they eat their own poop and digest it a second time. Bunnies actually make two different kinds of droppings: little black round ones and softer black ones known as cecotropes that are eaten. This process is known as coprophagy, and functions the same as cows chewing their cud.

It’s very important for a rabbit’s digestive system to keep moving fluidly, as they need to re-ingest their cecotropes in order to get the nutrients they need. If anything gets stuck in a bunny’s esophagus or intestines, they’re out of luck, since they’re incapable of vomiting.

I heard native Aborigines will pick out undigested food pieces from poop...

I think Bear Grylls in Australia episode..

They call it "second harvest".

I don't see a "recommended daily amount" or "minimum daily amount"

Nothing Boring about Boron
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4712861/

From the paper...
"Although it has been suggested that humans need at least 0.2 mg/d of boron and that the diet should contain approximately 1 to 2 mg/d of boron, numerous papers indicate that the standard American diet does not do so, and boron’s beneficial effects on bone, sex steroids, and vitamin D do not appear at boron intakes of less than 3 mg/d. All the human studies showing beneficial effects for boron supplementation discussed in this review used supplemental boron at a dose of greater than or equal to 3 mg/d. Studies of residents in boron-rich areas of the world indicated that 3 mg/d is a conservative amount that would produce benefits with a very remote risk of adverse effects. For example, in Turkey, daily boron intake for workers in a boric acid production plant averaged 12.6 mg/d, with no adverse effects."
