Avoid the South. Seriously. Maybe it would of been best to have it be a separate nation. Want to hear a taxi driver person still call a black person a coon. Go to New Orleans. Want to tennis shoe hike, go on the A.T. and pay to sleep on the fucking trail.
Fuck the south. Ignorant, obese, poverty and white class high society that it still is in so many ways. Put me in a bad mood but feel better now.
The West is the best. Seriously. Wondering in countries what it is like outside of it. Plans are set unless the Shroomery has a convention in Denver, will make time for it.

I hitchhiked around the country from 2004-2007. Visited 44 of the lower 48 states. I met so many wonderful people and had countless amazing adventures.
Some of the best rides (briefly, I'll need to write a whole book to talk about all the amazing times in those four years)-
-Florida to California on a multicolored hippie school bus with a rainbow family kitchen. -Three different times when getting up and hitting the road first thing in the morning, the very first car to go by stopped to pick me up. -California to West Virginia in a convertible with two cute girls who were rolling spliffs the whole 4 day trip.
My worst ride was this dude who picked us up in colorado and insisted on smoking crack while he drove. It was a very tense, unsafe feeling ride. As soon as he stopped for gas we jumped out and left. Didn't get many bad rides. Just about every car I got into was driven by friendly, kind, good people. Most all of my bad experiences were weather related, getting caught in the snow without warm clothes, almost being washed away in a flash flood, being stuck in PA for 3 days in december.
I was more worried about finding food or a safe place to sleep, than about anything a driver might do.

I know brotha' man, I know. I tended bar for a full year in the french quarter, then moved to Gulfport MS for another 4.5 years, then ended up in Broken Bow OK for another 4.5 years. Biggest closest semblance of a city was Texarkana.

I've always wanted to jump on a random train and see where it takes me. It seems like it would be a good time. Especially if I had a friend with me.
One time before GPS I ran out of gas because I made a wrong turn trying to get to the gas station. I tried hitching for 2 miles and no one would pick me up. I was almost at the station by the time someone did.
What's the longest you guys have had to wait for a ride?

The longest I ever waited was three days. In December, in western PA. I gave up and got on a bus.

15 miles walking to Truckee, CA and all the rich fucks wouldn't pick me up till some group from out of state did. Cool people. Cursing the asshole along the way. Even just waiting for the Amtrak after 25 days of planned hiking when everything is burning in Cali the rich pricks are just that.
Sitting by the lake and having a beer and women on decks tanning Barbie types, like, how can you be here? Fuck off. Riches will spoil.
