Scientists just discovered a "ring" galaxy. Unreal. :mindblown:

Halo the video game is based on real-life.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/video/science/scientists-dont-know-how-this-strange-ring-galaxy-formed/vi-BBVbNko?ocid=spartanntp

Astronomy is so bizarre.

I'm trying to find away to save up for me a Dob. I've had 4 telescopes and every time I look up at the stars it feels like a lil piece of me is missing. I search the sky trying to find Saturn or Jupiter, "Do you still know how to tell the difference"... hehe. I feel like i'm standing there missing a best friend that died.

Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

You might get more out of some good binoculars.  It's not that you won't get anything out of a dobsonian as much as it is that you still need to set it up and you might just not feel like lugging the tube around (though at least the mount should be easy to deal with).  With a decent pair of binoculars you can just get a wild hair up your ass to check out a patch of sky and, to be honest, I still use my binoculars even while I'm using my 8" telescope.

Then why not just buy an EM for the telescopes that you already have?

Whatever you'd use most often.  Wider aperture will let you see dimmer objects, but it will also make the whole thing more cumbersome to deal with.  That being said, naked eye observations are a good place to start too.  Just learn how to identify common features and then figure out where they sit with respect to the celestial coordinate system.  It'll just make things easier.

What kind of new astronomy technology do we have these days? Maybe a new type of camera?
